“Happy New Year”

What a venue for seeing in 2013!
We were totally bowled over by the splendor of this wonderful building.
I think this was the first time a New Years Black Tie Ball had been held here which, on the whole, did not fail to impress.
The attention to detail was second to none with the overall presentation of tables etc 10/10.
Queuing to order pre dinner drinks was rather time consuming and would suggest wines could be pre ordered and ready on the tables on arrival.
Our party thoroughly enjoyed the 7 course taster menu with the exception of the somerset brie course, which was served too cold. Well done to the chefs team for pulling off a very enjoyable choice of varied and delicious courses.
The live music duo was excellent but found the choice of music played by the DJ during the dinner to be a bit inappropriate.I think something softer would have been more enjoyable. His choice of dance music also left alot to be desired!
Dinner over and on to the Finale .After witnessing a very romantic marriage proposal in front of all the guests, we were all lead outside by the piper, at midnight, to experience an exceptional firework display.
Thank you to all involved for making the evening a very memorable and enjoyable New Years Party.

“The most stunning building in Manchester !”
Reviewed 23 December 2012

Pain-stakingly restored from derelict and about to fall down..

Purchased for a £1 and lovingly restored by the Public Trust that now owns it..

I have watched this building go from working Monastery to derelict and falling down, and apparently 2 weeks from demolition, to the beautiful stunning restored 2* Listed Building
that it is again today..

The priceless artifacts that were once removed are now all back inside this beautiful huge building! There's a very nice cafe inside now as well, a little pricey, but all monies/profits go towards the upkeep....... :-)

We've been here MANY MANY times, and will happily be going back again...

Right in the middle of a housing area, and it is simply stunning, the statues, the whole place, has been renovated brilliantly.

huge and truly an inspiration it holds the key to that over used 'wow' but thats whats it is 'wow'
the story you have to hear and the crying shame of it distructors..but in the face of all that the place is saved and the story continues...i heard about this place from mum, when she was living not far from it ..you can see it for miles around and that what it was built for to show the people of manchester it majestic appearence a friary,,not a monastery really.
Go and take from it what you will in mind body and spirit..it is anything you want it to be..i went to hear the story (again) a couple of mondays ago..food perfect, well served, hot and tasty.. the talk good and interesting and spoken with the heart. love this place nedds more lottery money for sure..they should not have to fight so hard to get it.somedays are free other a small fee. tours most sundays

“Beautiful venue for a wedding”
Reviewed 31 October 2012

Went to a Hindu wedding hosted at the Monastery - the entire do was there from the mornings breakfast and Hindu ceremony to the afternoon civil ceremony, cocktail reception, dinner and party! The entire day was fabulous, the venue was clean and tidy with friendly helpful staff. It was warm inside (even though it was freezing outside!). We had a fab time :)
