Although it is budget accommodation this hotel is not good value for money as it is very shabby, noisy and needs an update. It also needs to be managed better. 'Guests' (or just passers by who knew?) were allowed to chain smoke between the double doors of the hotel creating a fug and smell that pervaded the bar/lounge area which had the feel of a disused bingo hall. They we not asked to move. The night before we left, there was a party of Japanese business men who were obviously worse for drink and very loud banging on doors in our corridor until the early hours. They were not spoken to. Our room was grim and smelled of stale cigarette smoke. On our return, yes we had booked an overnight stay either end of our holiday in advance - big mistake!, a large TV screen was showing a local football match and was very noisy and obtrusive. You could not escape the row where ever you sat. After a long day traveling our second room was even more disappointing than the first, it too reeked of cigarette smoke in spite of the open windows, which just made it cold. We went down to the bar to be told (at 6.30 in the evening) that if we wanted coffee we would have to wait 20 minutes. We decided to go through to the restaurant and whilst we 'waited to be seated', we told that we couldn't order for 45 minutes because they were too busy. What is the point of a hotel if, as a resident, you cannot eat and drink in the establishment? I think this is unacceptable. We decided to return to our room to find that the TV did not work. So we just went to bed and left early. Very disappointing stay. My advice would be if you can, pay a little bit more and go elsewhere.

Britannia hotel is very close to Manchester Airport. If you book early there are excellent deals which include parking while on holiday. This time I stayed one night prior to an early flight. The hotel has a deal which gives you return transport to the airport for £6pp. I was quoted £9-£11.50 for one way from other firms. An early continental breakfast is available from 5am but this morning this milk was missing and there was nothing to put on toast. But it's my fault, I could have asked! Reception and bar staff were very nice. It's a basic good value hotel.

If you even you are on a tight budget there are many other better choices than this run down, shabby and tired hotel.
We needed a hotel to arrive late and leave early with good motorway access.
Luckily, we did arrive late and leave early. The corridors to the bedrooms looked like something out of a 1960s borstal. Dirty wall and skirting boards, trays of old food and dirty linen left outside the bedrooms.
The room itself was tired with filthy stained carpets, chipped bedroom furniture, marked walls and a décor that must be 50 years old.
Sink taps had pieces missing. Shower hang loose from the wall.
Only positives were clean linen and hot water.
We had 2 rooms and some of my family slept in their clothes on top of the bed.
There were groups of overseas tourists from the Far East - how ashamed that tour operators choose to place foreign guest at this flea pit of a hotel.
Cheap is no excuse for filth.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere

Was very disappointed to see how neglected this hotel was everywhere felt dirty as carpets were extremely tatty and most walls had marks or damp on them. It has so much
Potential as main lobby has plenty areas to sit and a pool table which was out of order but there was no sign, reception had plenty of info but the staff weren't exceedingly friendly! Place could do with a lick of paint and new carpets and it would feel ten times better! However very cheap but have stayed in cheaper places that didn't make me feel dirty.

Hi stayed in this hotel this weekend just gone and i would urge anybody considering staying here to reconsider.
The hotel was Dirty and run down, rooms where tiny and caked in dirt and the staff are both rude and dishonest.
We left the hotel for 2 hours to use the gym in their sister hotel and upon return found that my keycard would not open the room so went to reception to report this.
Once i got in the room i found my zippo lighter had been taken and the staff had no interest in trying to help me out just told me nobody had been in my room even though they had no cctv in the corridor.

I would sooner sleep in a car than stay in this hotel again

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

Me and my friend read the negative reviews but had no option than going here as everywhere else was fully booked. For the money we paid we were hoping to find a nicer hotel: furniture is old, the carpet is dirty, the bath doesn't make you feel comfortable.
Staff at the restaurant: there was a polite Spanish girl, however the other guy just ignored you: even if you talk to him at 1 m distance, it's like if you don't exist, unbelievable! I guess why he is still there...
The hotel is not well connected to the city as the latest bus is before midnight (on sundays even earlier), so consider that you might need to take a taxy.
We were at the second floor and could here the traffic from Palatine road.
The beds however are comfortable.

we stayed here for the night as it offered a parking offer. We arrived and did not expect much but it sure did the job we wanted it to do. we just needed a bed for the night and parking. We ate in the hotel and the pizza we had was delicious. We cannot really complain about our stay.
