“Great value for money stay.”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

Had to walk from Piccadilly station but managed to find it ok. Was about a 10-15 minute walk from station. We did arrive early (1pm) and was hoping we could at least leave our suitcase in the hotel whilst we went for lunch and a bit of shopping until 3pm check-in arrived. This wasnt the case, we had to take them with us. No option of paying for early check-in either but as we should of checked this out ourselves before arriving cant complain too much. On check in, our room was on 5th floor and was spacious and clean. We stayed as a group of 3 (me, mum & my daughter). Had a large double bed and 2 singles. All made up with lots of extra pillows, towels etc...

Bathroom was the same but the shower pressure wasnt great but enough for us to have a shower before going out. Wasnt too far from The MEN arena and we opted for a taxi there and back at the cost of £4.20 each way which I thought was good value. Didnt have breakfast here but did order a pizza from the 24h menu which was tasty and hot. Thought bar drinks were expensive but ok for the odd one before leaving for the night out...Have stayed in lots of Travelodge's around the UK and this one was just as good as the rest. Wouldnt have a problem staying here again in the future or any of the other Manchester Travelodge rooms, would just choose the best value at the time.

Stayed here for 2 nights for the Man Utd game. £72 per night. Have stayed here before, but they have recently refurbished the hotel and rooms (as mentioned in the TV advert. Rooms were basic, but very good. Clean, really comfortable beds, powerful showers. No safes in the rooms, otherwise everything you could want for a short stay. All you can eat buffet breakfast was also veru welcome. This hotel is located on the edge of the Northern Quarter and within easy reach of Arndale Centre, Printworks and Deansgate. Staff were polite throughout our stay. Would definitely stay here again. Good value for money.

Travel Lodge was fine with friendly staff and it was very handy for the Northern Quarter of Manchester. The room was quite hot, and only one window opened, but it was fine for what we needed and we got good nights sleep. Cheers Travel Lodge!

Room Tip: We were at the back which was a bit noisy for service vehicles and glass bins etc. We still slept ok...

Upon our arrival at 12 noon we were told that check in wasnt until 3pm, which was fair enough but wen i asked if we could store our luggage at the hotel so we could go shopping etc in manchester city centre until able to check in we were told that there was no facility provided for this but if we wanted we could go to piccadilly station were we could pay for a locker and store our luggage there. Being a visitor to the city i had no idea were or how to get to picc station, even if i had wanted to...which i didnt!!!!! I was left feeling dissappointed and unsure of wot i as gona do as i certainly did not want to trawl round manchester suitcases in tow!! By chance i asked the man at the bar, who was more helpfull and advised if i waited until 1pm then he could maybe offer me an early check in for a £10 charge which we did. Wouldnt have minded but we had to ask family to meet us at hotel and wait, which meant us spending a considerable amount of money buying drinks to kill time until we could check in.

Later that evening we ordered dinner in the lobby which was utter rubbish!! If i had've wanted meal like that i would have went to iceland!! Pizza was a frozen one i would bet my life that ive bought exactly same one in the well known frozen food store!!!! And to top it all off, my husband and daughter had finished eating what the could wen mine still hadnt arrived, only to b told that it must have been missed and would i like the price of mine refunded. To b honest i was left so hungry, angry and extremely unhappy that i told them just to take the money off a breakfast nxt morn which i had no intention of taking anyway as did not want to have to go out after and pay for another breakfast somewhere else...

Overall, basic and wouldnt recommend.

Back again to this hotel, unfortunately only for one night's stay. The lady who checked us in was very kind and helpful. We were very tired and the only concern for that night was that we wouldn't be able to have a good sleep. Luckily it was very quiet and we had a good sleep. We had dinner in the hotel, which was quite tasty. The lady at the reception/bar was kind enough to deliver to our room our fudge cake dessert, which we enjoyed very much.
We bought breakfasts for 2 adults, but to be honest it was a little pricey for the fact that the buffet selection was poor with very few choices. The orange juice was tasteless. It would have been better if they provided croissants and some fruits, like what the Travelodge in York Central that we had been to did. Perhaps this needs some attention and improvement.
Overall it was a pleasant stay and I'm sure I will return soon.

Great location (5 minutes from piccidilly gardens and the northern quarter) and a really good price. The beds were very comfy. No aircon but they provided fans. Staff were helpfull and friendly. For £10 flat fee you can have early check in as well
