“Take afternoon tea at the Radisson Blu”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

I would echo the view that this is currently the best afternoon tea on offer in Manchester.
Go for the "Gentleman's" rather than the traditional, especially if you are hungry or have a good appetite. The small savouries were imaginative and delicious. The sandwiches we got were less imaginative - beef, ham and egg mayonnaise, though more substantial than the finger variety on offer with the traditional tea.
The scones were less well executed - reminiscent of an amateur's first attempt at rock cakes - but were edible. The accompanying dollop of clotted cream was a very generous portion.
Unlike the menu of teas, there is only one blend of coffee available - in various forms : filter, latte etc.
Did we miss the cakes - a resounding "no". There was more than enough to eat - and enjoy.
The friendly staff were a nice bonus too.
Definitely will be recommending to friends

I visited this hotel to use the spa facilities on Saturday 15.02.14. I found the services extremely good and the staff were very helpful. However, I was very dismayed that while I was being handed my key and towel from one of your staff at the sienna reception, I noticed another member of your staff with dark hair laying on the floor. She suddenly jumped up as if startled by my presence. She seemed slightly hungover or ill. May I suggest that if this was the case, she may have been better off somewhere more comfortable than the reception floor. Sorry for the slight negativity on an otherwise good weekend.

I was most concerned to read your comments. Having spoken to the member of staff on duty, she has explained that she was simply picking up some keys which had fallen under the reception desk. I hope this clarifies the situation and am delighted you enjoyed your visit.

Had a fantastic stay at this hotel - took the bed and breakfast option and can say from start to finish nothing was too much trouble. Check in was smooth and straightforward, the room was immaculate and well designed, the little luxuries such as dressing gowns, slippers and toiletries were good quality and smelled divine. The porters were extremely helpful and even provided us with an umbrella to walk out at night. Breakfast was very nicely done with the option to eat from the self service or the menu and nothing was too much trouble for the waitress. It was ideally positioned for the theatre and shopping centre and would recommend to anyone

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! From the moment you walk through the entrance of this charming/ up market hotel, you know you're going to have an enjoyable stay. The service is first class and nothing is too much. My wife and I stayed over the valentines weekend and the staff are more than welcoming. We've stayed several times now - purely because we believe it's the best hotel in Manchester. We had a truely wonderful stay - our room was stunning with views of the city, the bathroom was immaculate.
We will stay again soon - the Club Carlson card is also highly recommended.

Stayed for one night for valentines weekend. Staff at reception were extremely helpful and polite. The room was nice and clean. Had one issue with tv. The batteries in the remote did not work and therefore the tv could not be turned on. There was also a funny smell in the corridors. Not sure this hotel is 5 star but still nice and would stay again.

I am sorry you experienced a fault with the remote control, and was concerned to read that there was a smell in the corridor. I would like to assure however you that we have recently been re-accredited with our five star status.

We went on a romantic break and found the room and hotel modern and up market. The room was perfect. We also used the swimming pool which was lovely and relaxing. We had drinks in the hotel bar and had lovely service. Would highly recommend!

After booking the hotel for a Valentines treat, at a great price, we were not at all disappointed. The staff were friendly, the room was comfortable and had eveything you could wish for and the facilities in the hotel were lush. After checking in, we had a light lunch and cocktails at the bar before checking out the pool and jacuzzi. A few little maintenance issues we noticed which needed attention by the pool area, like squeaky doors, cracks in the ceiling and messy changing rooms in the spa area but nothing that put us off using the facilities. We could not book spa treatments which was disappointing because they were fully booked with it being valentines day but it would be an idea to give priority bookings to guests to avoid disappointment for paying customers. The rooms were cosy but loud at times throughout the night with people walking past the door etc but that's to be expected on a Friday night in a city centre hotel and you cannot blame the hotel for that. The breakfast was amazing, so much choice and plenty of it. Hot, cooked breakfast and cold pastries, meats, fruit and yogurts etc to choose from. The bar prices were a bit steep but for a night of indulgence I would recommend this hotel.
