“Decent Hotel”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Perfectly good hotel. Everything you want is here and the staff are very professional. Food in the bar was decent and the rooms were clean and tidy. It might lack a bit of charm, but thats only a minor note.

I am pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We are proud of our heritage within the Free Trade Hall so I am sorry you feel we lack charm but appreciate individual taste.

My husband and I stayed for in a city view deluxe room for one night. Although the room was not large, it contained everything we needed for a comfortable stay (except biscuits for our tea!)
The bathroom was roomy and the shower/wet room was excellent.
We did not eat dinner at the hotel but our breakfast was perfect and the waiting staff were attentive and friendly. There was a huge choice- I particularly loved the fresh fruit and bircher muesli!
We must say the most impressive aspect of the hotel was the staff- they were, without exception, helpful, friendly and attentive- a real asset to the hotel!

Stayed here for two nights on business at the start of July. I was meant to be in another hotel but it was so awful my two colleagues and I checked out and came here, as I knew it was good from staying there in June also (see my other review to know which hotel to avoid!)

The hotel has been nicely done, modern and well-equipped but retaining the character of the old parts. The rooms are spacious with all the amenities you need, and the beds comfortable. Breakfast is very good - especially the big bowl of fresh fruit and berries. I also had room service which came very quickly and ate one night in the 'Lobster and Steak' restaurant. Good value at £17 inc as much salad and fries as you like.

I didn't use the gym but it looked well-equipped. The pool looked nice although a little small.

The location is good with easy access to other restaurants, next door to Manchester Central conference venue and a 15 walk to the main University site.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Great hotel to stay in for a weekend trip to Manchester. The room was nice and had a good view of the city. All the staff were vey helpfully from the bar staff in the cocktail bar to the breakfast staff and Jimmy our concierge for our stay. Only point that could be better would be the continental breakfast with a larger range of meats and cheese.

Excellent room (business lounge), this is an exceptional hotel, great service and rooms. The food is not as good but is easily acceptable and not a problem. The only thing I would say is that there was some disorganised staff when it came to business service.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I was concerned with your comment about our food and service particularly since most of the feedback we receive is very positive.

Not perfect and a little pricey but it served our purposes very well. We had a good room looking back towards the town hall and north. We just scraped in for afternoon tea before they finished. We try to avoid hotel breakfasts and easily found a super little place a few streets down towards Deansgate.

Good hotel, attentive staff. Good pool and spa with decent size gym, unusual for hotel in Manchester.

Great breakfast, good choice and quality. Nice relaxing bar. Overall, a good hotel worthy of 5star city hotel.
