We have stayed at several Premier Inns in the past and have recommended them to our friends and family however, we won't be recommending this one.
Upon arrival at the hotel the building itself look impressive, however the smokers and discarded cigarette butts outside the main entrance were off putting.
There were 2 members of staff on the main desk - we were not greeted and had to break up their conversation to ask if there was anywhere for us to leave our bags - we arrived at 10am and weren't allowed to check in until 2pm. We were then shown to a storage room where our bags were tagged and left.
We returned to the hotel at around 3.30pm we again were not greeted by the staff and just basically left to get on with checking ourselves in on the reception computer. We asked to retrieve our bags and were shown to the storage room again - the bags had been moved and one was stood on it's end - it's good that I did not have anything breakable in it - several others looked as though they had just been thrown into the room which of course was worrying.
We were not asked if we wanted breakfast or dinner or shown where the bar was etc therefore we did not bother using the facilities of the hotel during our stay.
The room itself was very clean and still had a 'new' smell to it. We were however put in a room that was adjacent to an internal door and lift so were worken a few times by the noise created from this.
I got this hotel on a deal for £29 for the night - for that price I was not too fussed, however the area where the hotel is is not too great and if staying in Manchester again I would most definately book the much friendlier and nicer Premier Inn near the Printworks or the one near Deansgate Locks - this one is no comparison to them.

Was over for the Match with my Spanish Student, his first time for him in England and Old Trafford.
Staff were excellent, room was large, clean and comfortable.
Only snag was we could not access the Internet.
Breakfast was plentyful and good, would suggest you find a more efficient way of doing the toast, there was a lenghtly Q and only one toaster.
Would stay again and would highly reccommend it to others.
Only 300m from the train station.

On the plus side: the people - friendly staff at check-in; the location - 3 minute walk to Piccadilly station; a decently-sized room, and with good-enough soundproofing too.

But on the other hand... some of the practices here really are customer-unfriendly: I arrived a good 2 hours before my partner, but because it was booked with her credit card I wasn't allowed into my room! And being told "it's because we're a budget hotel"? Er, no. We weren't paying a budget price. This rule does rather suggest that guests are seen as potential fraudsters all.

The other bizarre, never-before-encountered rule was at breakfast time. Now, call me old-fashioned, it is still generally customary to pay at the end of your meal, not the beginning, yes? But if, as a hotel, you do insist on suggesting that your breakfasters are intent on absconding immediately post-cornflakes, have more than one person on your breakfast check-in. The lengthening queue at the entrance as the (only visible) worker fiddled around with a malfunctioning card machine could have been comical if it wasn't a weekday and we didn't all have to go to work shortly.

So if you enjoy queuing, paying before seeing the room/tasting the meal, or waiting 2 hours to gain access to your own room, you should definitely stay here!

States here for my birthday and really enjoyed it. The location is spot on. Not stayed in a premier inn before, staff were excellent. We found all the bars and clubs in the northern quarter ( a short stroll down the road) 2 mins away, top night out.

Arrived with family of 3 early in the morning! Just wanted to unload luggage and have stroll in the city before getting the room! We were received by an extraordinary service minded person in the reception. Instead of just stating that it was too early for check-in he called the cleaning personnel to see if the room was ready. It was not, but it was prioritised and we we served coffee and soft drinks in the bar while we waited. As we were 3 rather grown ups he said that the room originally bookt was a bit small. Without any additional charges he upgraded the room to a suite which actually was more like an appartment - fantastic! Breakfast was also above average and the location is excellent!!!

Stayed at Premier Inn, Piccadilly for three nights wth a group from Ireland. Hotel staff were lovely esp breakfast staff including our singing assistant! Hope to return again very soon. The only small thing I would suggest is that restaurant could be a little faster with food but we were on a tight schedule each day so perhaps we noticed it more than most. Otherwise I have nothing but positive memories of the place
