Went in on a bank holiday Monday for breakfast and sat out the front. It's a really nice place and wasn't too busy. Service is on the slow side of 'relaxed' but to be fair we weren't in a rush and were quite happy sitting in a nice sunny spot outside. Staff were friendly and attentive without being annoying. I ordered the 6 item breakfast which was really, really good. Bacon nice and crispy, sausage meaty and nicely seasoned. I can't stand beans if they aren't mouth scaldingly hot and these were, they came in a separate bowl to allow the diner to distribute them as they so choose, a nice touch. Roasted cherry tomatoes were spot on as well and two nice wedges of granary toast. We were also kindly informed that free coffee refills are available when you're eating which was a really pleasant surprise. Now for the negatives, firstly, someone in the kitchen needs to master the art of poaching an egg, mine was rock hard and so were the ones my girlfriend ordered in her eggs benedict, unforgiveable really. Secondly, why do so many places get eggs benedict wrong? I can understand substituting bacon for the traditional ham, who doesn't like bacon? For the love of all that's holy though, eggs benedict is served on a toasted English muffin! This one came on a split bread roll (bap, barmcake, breadcake, whatever you choose to call it...) This is just wrong. If you've run out of English muffins then just tell me so I can order something else, otherwise just get it right please, you were so close. I really like this place and if it was just me eating I probably would have gone with four or five stars but there were just too many issues with my partner's meal which left us both a bit disappointed. All that said I would advise giving this place a try and I will certainly go back. I hope they arrange a breakfast seminar, with mandatory attendance for all staff and then this place could be bordering on breakfast perfection.
