I agree with other reviewers who have commented on poor marshalling and traffic management. We visited the Ideal Home show on Saturday 7th June. The venue seems unprepared and ill-equipped for large events such as this. Compared with, say the NEC, where banner signposting and marshalls guide you from the motorway sliproad right to your parking space, there was a complete absence of traffic management, in or out. I will not repeat what others have said only to say that my experience matched theirs. In my opinion, this venue cannot handle large crowds and sharing the same entrance and overfrlow as the trafford centre is a recipe for chaos.
We spent 45 minutes first driving round and then wandering on foot with no clear direction, in pouring rain, arriving 30 minutes late for a timed restaurant booking which was a birthday treat. Fortunately, the staff still allowed us in and helped to relieve what was by now considerable stress.
More worryingly, on returning to our car, the car park was gridlocked. No one managed to leave the car park for a full hour whilst amazingly, people were still being allowed to enter it, thus making the problem worse. Large volumes of traffic were still entering the site (mid afternoon). No one took control until some other drivers manually raised a side barrier drawing attention from car park staff who then reluctantly opened a side entrance, and created a lane to let us out. Another driver in the queue told us she had rung the trafford centre to explain our situation and had been advised that the police had also been called.
This experience was so bad, I would not visit either the Trafford Centre or Event Cty again.
