An excellent city centre hotel, less than a minute away from Picadilly station and an easy 15 minute walk to the MEN. We chose this hotel as it is one of the few city centre hotels with parking. On arrival we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment which was way more than we really needed but was excellent. The apartments are ideal for people needing to spend a few nights in Manchester or families with children as they had all "mod cons" including a dishwasher and washer drier, but with all the benefits of a 4* hotel. Breakfast was brilliant with lots of choice, coffee was cold, but instantly replaced, with an apology when staff were told about it.
The only thing that let it down was that the cleanliness was only average. Our kitchen bin hadn't been emptied and we came across a "crushed" raisin on the living room floor. This didn't cause us major problems and I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed for 3 nights and thought it was really nice, but didnt quite deserve the 4 stars. The television was old and it did not have full sky television like the website says. There were a few other chanels besides the normal ones, so nothing major.
The apartment was boiling hot when we arrived on the Friday night and the main heater was a storage one that we couldnt switch off. Reception happily sent someone up with a fan but, which was good.
We really liked the high ceilings and space - it really felt like we were staying in our own apartment.
They left us a little bottle of milk and plenty tea, coffe and sugar. The maids filled the dish washer and put it on when we were out, which was great.
We did get a wake up call one morning which we didnt ask for, but luckily we were already out of bed or else I wouldnt have been very happy.
We found the place overpriced, but altogether a nice place to stay. We would definately consider it again (but a lower price would be an added incentive).
The location was brilliant - right next to Picadilly Station. Oh - and although we saw groups of people staying for hen or stag dos - we encountered no noise.
The free wi-fi was a great addition too.

Stayed in a two bedroomed apartment for three nights booked through booking.com. We arrived before the official check in time and were surprised with an upgrade to a corner apartment (501). The apartment was incredibly spacious and clean with two double bedrooms (one en-suite), bathroom, hallway and open plan kitchen/living area. Rooms clean and comfortable, location perfect for Manchester Piccadily station and city centre shopping. Staff very friendly and keen to help when necessary. Taxis were arranged for us and arrived promtly. £17 to the Chill Factor (just after the Trafford Centre) and £6 to Vermillion (fab Thai restaurant).
My friend arranged this trip and chose the apartment where I would normally opt for a hotel, however, having stayed here I would be more than happy to return.
We did not eat in the hotel but meals were available. Breakfast was approx £17 and could be order for your room. We had a couple of drinks in the bar and again the staff were very friendly.
Overall, excellent location and value for money. If possible try for a corner room or you may find your bedroom looking onto the atrium!

Stayed at this hotel 3 times and would recommend it to anyone, its quiet, modern and spacious in a great location (5 min walk to the main shopping area) with a good carpark around the back. Has a fully equipted kitchen for making that all important breakfast, large tv, dvd player and nice comfy beds. The interior is a loft apartment style with red brick walls and the building itself is a unique old factory, which gives the hotel alot of charm and character. The prices for a stay here have gone up dramaticaly in the last few years, im not sure how happy id be paying full price, as i'v always managed to book it cheaper on lastminute etc. Def worth a visit though.

Had a fantastic stay at The Place. It was so convenient having our own kitchen and dining space. It meant that we managed to save stress and money by not dining out with the children (9months and 3years) for the whole of our stay. We stayed in one of the standard apartments which was very spacious with two good sized double bedrooms and a kitchen / dining and living area. Also two good sized bathrooms.

Its location in the city is perfect- just a couple of minutes walk from picadilly station and a short walk to the shops.

I would definately use The Place again as a base for our city break and would certainly recommend it to others.

The customer serveice we recieved from start to finish for this stay was appaling. Firstly a key card wouldn't work which took several phone calls and trips to reception to resolve. Worst of all was after our night out, returning to the hotel to be confroned by a security gaurd armed with a guest list. Our group were either not on the list, or he couldn't read? When I asked whay should I do - sleep in my car, he replied you better had, hadn't you (I couldn'y my car keys were in my room!) After around 15 mins of getting no where my friend managed to make it to reception who reluctanlty let us through. Once in the room, a receptionist then proceeded to come and check each of our rooms incase we had smuggled intruders in. We were made to feel like crimnals. This hotel obviously has problems with guests coming to party, but if they are going to operate such a strict poilcy they should ensure that their guest list is correct. As for the hotel, great concept, great location just all a bit tired. We had a very dirty ironing board, which you wouldn't want to put any of your clothes on. We then struggled to get out of the hotel the next day as their coin operated barrier failed, which took further two trips to reception to sort - by that time all we wanted to do was get out of the place!
