“A lesson in staff training”
Reviewed 23 January 2014

We have just had a two day midweek break in Manchester, we chose the ARORA hotel because of its position to China Town, Deansgate shopping and the main night life attractions. We had a superior King size room which was very good, the breakfast was excellent, but the main attraction was the staff service which was excellent. I suggest any one in business who wants to train their staff on customer service should invest in a trip to this Hotel. Only slight nag was that the Satnav did not like the post code, buy on second time of phoning the Hotel, the staff came to the rescue and went out on the street to find us and guide us in. Fantastic.

In my opinion the Arora is a reasonable 3 star hotel which is fine for city workers but couples may want more X Factor. The hotel makes a good base being near a lot of restaurants and is only a 15 minute walk to the shopping district or 20 minutes to the main station. The rooms were quite, clean, basic and had a nice big soft bed. Breakfast was average.

Dear Gone2golf,

I am sorry and surprised to read that you found The Arora to be in your opinion only adequate, as you can read in the earlier reviews we are usually found to be a most well received four star hotel with an excellent reputation for customer service and cleanliness, our location is often praised and is actually only 5 minutes from the main shopping district and a 10 minutes walk to Piccadilly train station.

Kind regards

Booked through Secret Escapes- arrived to find they could not find our booking, took a little whole to sort. Room was roomy and clean. When had a meal included ( resident menu ) excellent valve £21.00, Breakfast very nice but costly at £16.00. All the staff were very tentative and nothing was to much trouble. Star staff Moe behind the bar and Emma in the restaurant. On checkout we were charged for snacks and drinks we never had, we challenged these cost and they were knocked off. Would we recommend YES!!!! Would we go back YES!!!!

Dear Chris,

Sorry to hear there was some confusion over your reservation and invoice but delighted to hear that you had a great stay and meal in our bar and grill. Breakfast is reduced from the normal price of £14.00 to £10.00 if pre-booked the night before.

Great hotel in excellent location, short walk from train station, china town 2 mins one way & Piccadilly gardens/city centre 5 mins other way. Check in was at 2 but the lovely staff managed to check us in 2hrs early & we had a free upgrade to executive room which was fabulous, large & spacious, comfy bed & very clean/well presented with big fluffy robes & slippers!. Hotel bar & restaurant good with resident offers. Nothing was too much trouble, we were able to leave our luggage after checkout until our train was due & the anniversary card left for us from the staff was a lovely personal touch. We would definitely recommend the hotel, the staff were professional, friendly & polite, the rate we paid for what we got was bang on & the location perfect. We will be staying here next time we are in Manchester.

I believe that people are very quick to complain if something does not match their expectations, but do not bother when things do. We have just had a weekend staying at the Arora Hotel Manchester to celebrate my husbands birthday. The whole weekend was fantastic, as my husband is originally from there but has not been back for many years. Our stay at at this hotel just made the weekend even more enjoyable. On arriving, we were greeted with a very warm friendly welcome and this continued throughout our stay. We were acknowledged every time we arrived back or left the hotel by every member of staff present. The room was lovely and clean and I cannot find the smallest fault. We were given a free upgrade to one of their best rooms. We will not have any problems considering where to stay when we return to Manchester again, it will be the Arora Hotel every time. I will definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. Thank you Arora, you made my husbands birthday EXTRA special.

Just returned from a 2-night stay at the Arora Hotel Manchester with friends & their children, our check-in was seamless and reception team were friendly and welcoming. The rooms are large with 2 double beds, a seating area & lovely bathroom. Breakfast is plentiful and the staff could not do enough for you. The hotel is conveniently located to St. Peter's Walk Tram station and within walking distance (5-8 minutes) of the main shopping areas.

Bar 24 does not allow children in after certain times and we were told by staff we had to leave. As we had been there earlier in the day another more senior member of staff approached us and offered us seating in the restaurant, which suited us perfectly.

Eating out was also difficult with children as not many places allowed children in, one place said children were not allowed in after 4 pm - which we found to be quite ridiculous!

Overall I would recommend a stay at the Arora and I will definitely be returning, but maybe without children next time :-)

We enjoyed our 2nd New Years eve at the Arora Hotel in Manchester and could not fault it at all. For £199 for the two of us, we got a 5 course meal which came with a complimentary Bellini Cocktail and it was all ecellent. We stayed in the hotel for the night and the room was almost a suite it was that big. Large comfy bed, sofa and TV, we could have had our own party in there if we had so wished. The fridge was unstocked but the notice said this was so you could bring your own drinks in or have them stock it if you wanted. I found this heartwarming as most hotels want you to stay in their bar and spend all your money with them all night.

We enjoyed our meal and headed to the bar in 24, which is their bar, where there was a DJ and 2 cocktails for £10 for hotel residents. It was good fun and all the bar staff enjoyed themselves and made everyone welcome.

We would do it again this year but have a lot of family commitments this time but will definitely be going again.

Room Tip: No Swimming Pool or Spa but hey its a gem in the crown of Manchester Social Life
