We love this hotel. We held our party for 95 people on Sunday afternoon, 8 December.and the whole event was wonderful. The staff were great, the afternoon tea was elaborate and yummy, the tables were set with mismatched china and three tier silver cake stands, all adding to the sophistication of the occasion. The hotel has a warm and intimate atmosphere which everyone who attended commented on. The whole thing was better than we had anticipated. Everybody needs to visit this place - they will return time after time. Thank you all at Great John Street Hotel for a fantastic experience..

We held our wedding reception at Great John Street on Sunday and the team were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel like very special guests. Our friends & family who stayed at the hotel also said how much they loved it. It was very informal but still professional and the accommodation, food, ambience and staff were all great. Definitely will be making a return visit.

Room Tip: All of the rooms were full of character. Maybe select one on 1st or 2nd floor if there is a private...

This is how hotels should be. Impeccable service, amazing room, great food and all round wonderful experience. Ok, it's towards the high end on cost, but I've stayed at more expensive hotels and had better service at travel inn!
From the minute you walk through the door you are looked after. Natalie on the reception was warm, helpful and efficient. The room was fantastic, well equipped and a roll top bath my wife spent over an hour in!
Next, an English tea, first class, dinner later very good and well priced, in fact lower than expected. Breakfast, first class, albeit on the steep side.
You get what you pay for and this worth every penny, plus if you are a coronation street fan, you can see the set from the roof top terrace.........what more do you need?

This is a fine looking hotel in a reasonably central location. It is an old building, I believe a Victorain school that has plenty of character and good interior design, the room we stayed in was of particular note with the high ceiling and immacualute presentation and the morning breakfast was very good.. However one gets the impression the hotel is trying to get by on looks alone and the staff appear disinterested, the eveing meal was average, there appears to be a mysterious "service charge" added to every bar bill and, oh, there is a lack of hot water. I tried to have a shower in the afternoon but the water went cold after a few minutes while the next morning I had only seconds before starting the day under a ice shower. For me a hotel has to provide the basics like hot water before going on to try and look good but hey, maybe I'm being old-fashioned here.

I absolutely agree. Hot water is a basic expectation in a hotel. Unfortunately, your stay corresponded with the failure of one of our boilers, giving us a limited supply of hot water. Thankfully, this has now been repaired. We were aware of the situation and had thought that it hadn't affected any of our guests but obviously we were wrong. I am sincerely sorry and would be grateful if you could contact me directly to discuss your issues further.

Kind regards,

Dan Edwards
General Manager

Simply wonderful place to crash for a romantic evening with a lover. Cocktails and drinks at the bar were delightful! Wonderful service, beautiful interior--would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a splendid stay at a hotel.

I did not want to leave and neither did my husband!

Room Tip: Just ask the concierge!

I've stayed at GJS a number of times with my partner and will keep coming back here whenever we choose to visit Manchester!

The rooms are awesome, indivual and from the smallest to the biggest suites have the wow factor and little touches that make the place unique!

On our latest visit we stayed in an opus grande suite, it was huge, well decorated and the oversize bath tub next to the kingsize bed was an awesome idea ;)

The roof top terrace, with hot tub looked like it has had a revamp and as usual the breakfast was lovely!

The staff were nice and attentive as per usual.

Great location on deansgate is ideal to take in the great selection of bars and restaurants that deansgate has to offer!

If you're looking to visit Manchester Christmas markets then make the trip extra special and stay at GJS! Only a 2 minute walk to the markets and even closer to the spinningfields ice rink .

AWESOME!!!

My husband and I got married last year at Didsbury House so decided to spend our 1st year anniversary in its sister hotel. We were not disappointed.
On arrival, we were checked in and shown to our amazing (and huge) room. Although we had not mentioned anything about our anniversary, we found a note from Jessica, who coordinated our wedding at Didsbury house and Dan, the general manager welcoming us to GJS and 2 homemade biscuits with a happy 1st anniversary message. We were so touched that they remembered us. A knock on the door and Jessica was there with 2 glasses of champagne... So thoughtful. The furniture and decor is beautiful and the hotel is so different to anywhere that we have stayed before. The super king size hand carved bed was so comfortable and we had a great nights sleep, not to mention the double roll top baths, which were super relaxing.
Our stay was fantastic. The staff are so helpful and even without the thoughtful touches, which made it so special we had a great time. Special thank you to Jessica and Dan.
Well recommended to anyone wanting to stay in a unique, beautiful and welcoming hotel.
