I stayed at this hotel with my husband & 4 children, booking 2 rooms. We checked in online, which was a pointless task, because we had to give all the same info when we arrived at the hotel. We were given 2 rooms, but on totally different floors! When I asked for rooms near each other, I was told none were available. The rooms are apparently allocated by a computer! Surely a computer would be smart enough to know that if 2 rooms are booked on the same booking, then they should be near each other???
RECEPTION - I rand reception before we arrived to ask for an extra travel cot, as I had only booked one & we have twins. I was told by the receptionist that she didn't know how to change it on the computer system! To call the hotel reception it costs 10p per minute. Even if you are in a room and need to call reception it is still 10p per min. I did get another travel cot & the guy at reception was kind enough to bring it to the room & put it up.
ROOMS - the rooms were nice with very comfy beds & good quality bed linen. There was free view tv & a hair dryer. The hair dryer in my room didn't work, so I had to ask for one from reception. We had 2 travel cots, which were good quality & blankets were provided for the
babies. One of our rooms had a big dent in the wall, which looked like someone had kicked it in. It was just plastered over very roughly & looked a mess. The window in the other room wouldn't close properly, so it was freezing all night.
BATHROOM - the bathrooms were decent enough. Bath with shower over, big mirror over sink & decent toilet. There was soap/shampoo available from a dispenser on the wall. The towels were good quality, very fluffy & clean.
FOOD - there was room service available but very expensive. The pub next door did decent
meals & the price wasn't too bad. There are also some good take aways just a short drive down the road. Breakfast was nice & served in the pub. Buffet of cold food & you order the hot food. Took ages to be seen to when we arrived though, so make sure you leave plenty of time for breakfast. There didn't seem to be enough staff at all.
OVERALL - this hotel is ideal for a one night stop over. We used it the nightbefore our flight. It's only a 5 minute drive to manchester airport & easy to find. It wasn't as good as the first time we stayed there due to rooms being on different floors & other problems with the rooms. But for the price, it is excellent value for money.
