We had a two night stay here whilst attending a conference at the Manchester Centre and it was very convenient for this venue - a short stroll away over the tram lines.

I could not fault the staff at all at this particular Premier Inn - all without exception were polite, helpful and friendly. The food at breakfast was good and plentiful, though could have been hotter even when we were first down at 6.30 am and had the pick of the buffet hot food. Certain foods were cooked to order, e.g. poached eggs, which were beautifully cooked with soft yolks. Dinner, too, was good, although a little slow in getting to the table on one evening.

My concerns about this visit are centred around the bedroom - we had booked a room for a disabled person and their carer. This turned out to be on the third floor; the ground floor had no bedrooms and the first floor was taken by a gym. In the room were no specific instructions for the disabled on what to do and how to exit in an emergency - the notices relating to such were the usual ones to be found on the backs of bedroom doors in hotels: "do not use the lift, use the exit stairs and gather at a central point. However, a wheelchair bound person is unable to do this and there should be instructions for them in the bedroom. The bathroom was not a wet room - it had a bath (admittedly a low sided one) and a shower over the bath. A wheelchair bound person is unable to use such equipment. The toilet had rails at either side, but on the right side, the toilet roll holder was immediately behind this, meaning that it was difficult to access it for use. The towels were high on the wall on the the heated rail. In the bedroom itself there were long cords for light pulls and an emergency red pull - these and the bathroom rails plus a reduced height door spy hole - seemed to be the sum total of disability provision, which was disappointing.

We have learnt a valuable lesson here in not taking things for granted and next time we make a hotel or inn booking we will make sure that we know exactly where the room is situated and what equipment and facilities are incorporated - and more importantly what is not.

Thank you for taking the time to write your recent review following your stay with us here at the Manchester Central Premier Inn.

I'm sorry that you were dissapointed with our disabled facilities,as a brand all of our 640 Hotels vary slightly Hotel to Hotel. As you said we have disabled on various floors but not the ground or 1st floor. Each has grab rails in the toilets, anti-scalled taps, lower baths in rooms that don't have wet rooms, lower spy hole, sliding bathroom door instead of a pull one and towels placed on a low shelf.

As everyone's disability varies I would suggest you call the Hotel direct to ensure that they have the facilities in place before you arrive. Or they can advise on maybe an alternative Hotel which would suit your needs better.

I have had a meeting with the reception team and following your comments re what to do in a fire. We now will explain at check-in that any wheel-chair bound guest stay in their room if the fire alarm goes off. If it did go off one of our team would come their room and explain what was happening. Due to the design of the Hotel we have 3 options on each floor as a safe heaven till help arrived. Again this varies hotel to hotel. I'm sorry that this didn't happen on your check-in.

I hope you enjoyed your time at the conference.

Kind regards

The hotel was what you would expect from a Premier Inn. The rooms were quite small though, but the location is excellent for the City Centre and about a 15 minute walk from the MEN arena. Would advise if you are a light sleeper to request a room at the rear of the hotel, as there is a busy tram line at the front of the hotel. The trams run quite late and start early. But overall the hotel is good value for money and in a great location.

Room Tip: Rear of hotel

Thank you for your recent review following your stay with us here at the Manchester Central Premier Inn.

As you say we are very centrally located in the City Centre and ideal for shops, Christmas Markets, restaurants, bars and tourist attractions.

We try and fill the back of the hotel up first as we do have trams running accross the road infront of the hotel. Unfortunately due the high occupancy this isn't always possible. The windows are all double glazed, front and back.

I hope you have the opportunity to visit Manchester again in the near future.

Kind regards

Thank you for taking the time to write your recent review.

I'm sorry you were disturbed by dust cart and bin lorry during the night. Unfortunately due to the city centre location fo the Hotel we sometimes are affected by businesses near by. Our own deliveries are only allowed to arrive after 8am.

We do try to recify this by using bedrooms away from this area but this is only possible when we have the availability. When you next stay with us please request a room to the back of the hotel.

I have passed your comments re the coffee in the restaurant over to their manager to invesgiatae. hopefully when you next stay with us it will be a lot better.

Kind regards

We stayed on the 15th November 2013, as we were going to the Depeche Mode Concert at the MEN, the hotel is facing the Midland Hotel not far from Nynex Conference Centre, and just around the corner from Albert Square where the markets are, puts you in the mood for Christmas, hotel very nice and clean room at the front of the hotel. Would stay here again hotel ideal for lots of attractions.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back as the trams start quite early and could wake you.
