“GREAT friendly hotel and ideal location for MEN Arena”
Reviewed 14 October 2011

Stayed for one night when we went to see Peter Kay. The hotel is ideally located for the MEN arena and the Arndale Centre which are only 5 minutes' walk away. Check in was quick and easy and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was spotless, the beds extremely comfortable and after a good night's sleep we woke to a fantastic breakfast - Highly recommended and well worth the money; one of the best we've ever had.. In fact, I couldn't think of one bad thing to say about this hotel - go and book it now!! :)

Good for overnight stay after a night at the Arena and also for main shopping area and the food and wine festival, which was great. Bar area quite small for after show drinks. Good sized rooms, although hotel booking confirmation said construction nearby could be noisy, this must only be during the day, however no noise when we arrived at 3pm and none when we were leaving at 9.30am. Some areas of the hotel were looking tired, but overall for central Manchester was ok. Staff very pleasant and interested. Would stay here again for visiting theatres etc. Did not eat in the restaurant as there are so many places to eat round about.

This is my second stay at this hotel, there is limited parking with this hotel and we were lucky enough to get a space this time. Check in quick and fast, asked did we need any directions or city centre info which was nice. Room really big and spacious, beds comfy and bathroom clean. Arndale centre only 5 mins stroll so great if you need to drop bags off mid shopping! MEN 5 mins walk so it was really quick to get back to after the concert. We were only on the 3rd floor but you didn't hear any outside noise. The choice at breakfast was good, hot food was hot and fresh. All in all great place to stay for a weekend, especially if you get a good offer.

My Mother and I stayed here for one night as we were attending an event at The MEN Arena. The hotel was easy to find and we noticed immediately the close proximity to the Arena and Printworks and the main shopping areas. When we checked in, we found the receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly as she cancelled a previous booking we had made via a website and booked us in directly and included the £22 meal deal (3 course dinner, a glass of wine/pint of lager/soft drink, breakfast) so that we actually paid less. We also were able to check in early. We were allocated a room on the 10th floor of the Hotel. We found the room to be clean, of a decent size and easy to access. The security is perhaps not as tight as at other similar city centre hotels as you could access the lifts quite easily if someone else used their card and the stairs were also easy to access. We enjoyed a bar snack in the quiet but clean, well stocked bar area which was slightly expensive but nice enough and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner that evening. The service in the restaurant was excellent.

After returning to the hotel, we enjoyed a further drink in the bar area which was very full and left us unable to sit anywhere. The bar area is too small for a hotel this size. We had a quiet nights sleep and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast in the morning although we did find that it was perhaps a little under staffed,

All in all, an excellent location, and exceptional value. I am certain I will stay here again and again.

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night , this was our 2nd visit as the hotel is in an Ideal location for MEN arena, only 5 min walk.

Hotel starting to look tired, could do with a freshen up on the outside. Check in was busy, we were given a room key, on opening the door we found we had been given the same room as the people who had checked in just before us . Reception quickly sorted another room for us.

The room we did get allocated (room 1010) had some pipework problems, flushing the loo made the QE2 sound like it had just docked!!!

The bedrooms could benefit with windows that could be opened even a centimetre or 2 to allow some fresh air. Not sure how often the windows are cleaned on the outside but think they needed to be done, more dirt than clean window to look through

The lifts have certainly seen better days and are a bit like a roller coaster bouncing back and to on the way up/down.

Bar area could really do with being bigger, only about 15 tables for the whole hotel
Can’t comment on the restaurant, we found a Weatherspoons 5mins round the corner

Would stay here again for a future visit to the MEN, more for convenience than anything.

Good budget hotel in a central location and 6 minute walk to the M.E.N arena.

Room Tip: Very high building so be aware if you dislike lifts.
