“Can't argue with £39”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2011

We visited Manchester for the Children in Need gig on Thursday 17th November. Ideal location-2 minutes walk from Chinatown and 4 minutes walk from the main Christmas markets. Car park round the corner-£13 for an overnight (discounted) space. Room was basic but clean and all that was required for a boozy night. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the new automated check in was very speedy. If it's no frills night then £39 for a city centre room for 2 can't be bad!

Room Tip: Room 376-great view of the bins but much quieter than those facing the busy main road!!

We stayed just one night . Everything was as we would have expected it to be. Staff in all areas were warm ,friendly and helpful. We had no complaints and have recommended the hotel to family and friends. We were there to visit the theatre ,usually we go to a mattinee ,however this show was a one night only production. This hotel was in a perfect location for were we needed to be.We will certainly be using this hotel again.

Friendly staff. Comfortable bed and pillows, had a good night's sleep. Warm duvet. Couldn't open the windows for fresh air as the handle had been taken off for "safety" reasons. Slight problem at check-in - I was allocated a room that was paid for by another guest as a "late departure", but this was rectified by the staff on reception and I was allocated another room. It was a bonus to have a "luggage room" available on departure, whilst we did some last minute shopping. Within walking distance to the shops. Also on the "free" Metro Shuttle Bus route. Would recommend this hotel to friends.

Stayed at Premier Inn on Thursday 17th November as we were going to MEN Arena for Children in Need. We had two family rooms booked and paid £29 for each room. Although the hotel was very busy when we arrived check in was very efficient. Parking was around the block and we were told we would receive a discount voucher upon checking out (can't grumble at that). We were not disappointed both rooms were large, the beds were comfortable and both bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. On requesting some ice from the bar we were very pleased when our son returned with an ice bucket. No issues in calling a cab as there was free phone in the lobby. Breakfast - there was a great choice something for everyone, the only complaint was from the men in our group - they would have preferred a larger plate (although you could go back for more if you liked). Will look out for bargain stays with Premier Inn in the future.

We stayed at this hotel on Saturday, I will say the room was bigger than what I thought it would be and clean. Tho checking in was slow as well as check out. Me and my partner went out for the evening and got back to the hotel around midnight. Only had an hour or so of sleep when the fire alarm went off at 3:40am!! Not impressed that I almost walked past the fire escape but there was no signage in the room telling you where to go incase there is a fire. My partner always checks for fire evacuation procedures in every hotel we stay in. A group of us were at the fire exit door outside not knowing where to go until a member of staff came for us. Must have been outside for around half an hour and a staff member was shouting something over a loud speaker that no one could understand not just us. When we got back in the hotel we were walking along our corridor to the room when the fire alarm went off again then suddenly was turned off. Got back in the room and this happened 4-5 times, the fire alarm sounding then being turned off. Didn't get back to sleep at all and certainly when it was starting to get light outside. On the website they say their curtains are blackout so no light gets in, sorry plenty of light coming in. My partner didn't get a good nights sleep. Come 8am I had enough, we got dressed went across the road for a quick breakfast and checked out. All the receptionist said was sorry about the fire alarm when asked how we slept even tho I said I didn't sleep. No offer of a refund or discount as they state on the website and in the hotel. I was to tired to argue and just wanted to get home. Another downside is you can not open the windows in the bedroom, it seems they have taken the handles off every window in the hotel. We only live in the next town and wished we had just gotten the last bus home instead of wasting money in this hotel or at least have booked another hotel elsewhere. I'm still waiting for my reply from premier inn when I sent them a message.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to feedback about your recent stay with us. I am really sorry to hear that your sleep was disturbed by the fire alarm activation that occurred here on Saturday night. I would like to sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and distress that this caused you and your partner. I can confirm that the alarm was caused by the deliberate smashing of a break glass call point by one of our guests, which furthermore caused our staff to be unable to successfully reset our fire system. This is a very rare occurrence, and as I am sure you can appreciate the primary focus for our night's team was to ensure the safety of all our guests and staff by completing a full evacuation of the hotel.

I was concerned to hear that you could not locate any fire evacuation procedures in your room. It is Premier Inn policy that fire evacuation instructions are stuck to the back of every bedroom door. I will ensure that a full investigation is done into this to see why there were no instructions in your particular room.

I would really appreciate the opportunity to discuss the issues that you had personally and arrange a full refund for you under the terms of our Good Night Guarantee. Please contact me at any time via the hotel.

Yours Sincerely

Hayley McHugh

Stayed for two nights with my teenage daughter, asked for a twin room which had a double & single bed in, both of which were extremly comfortable and clean and plenty of pillows. Asked for an iron & ironing board and it was delivered to our room within 10 mins.Great value for money and had no problem with noise (we stayed on Thur & Fri night) Staff were helpfull and cheerful and had no problems with everything we requested.
