“not the best in manchester”
Reviewed 7 January 2013

go over and back to manchester alot for football games. very rarely go past the premier inn chain have stayed at the hotel numerous times but have never wrote a review. the hotel itself is a 5 minute walk from picadilly gardens. there is a boots chemist next door and a wetherspoon bar and mcdonalds right by it which is very handy.

we arrived as usual at 7.50 am and for the first time they didnt have a room ready the gentleman on check in was a real gent couldnt have been nicer he stored our bags and told us to come back after 10 they should have a room by then. We went away for breakfast and a bit of shopping and returned after miday. we were greated by a female staff member who told us check in wasnt till 2 and they had no rooms ready (without even checking) i told her we had been there that morning and we were told to come back after 10 . we were kean to get a room as we had to get ready to head to the footie. she checked her computer and there was in fact a room ready. we were happy we got a room before check in time.

we went to the resturant that evening for dinner they were offering a meal deal ( 3 course dinner with drink and breakfast the following morning) for 22 £ which was very gooand the food was nice. when we got to the bar we had to que .we qued for about 10 minutes before we were even greated by staff and then told we had to wait a few more minutes, the bar wasnt that busy four or five tables eating but most of the other tables were dirty and the staff werent in much of a hurry to clean them. i found the waitress rather un pleasant and she even asked us for id ( we are 24 and 25) i wasnt impressed

breakfast the following morning was much busier we went down at 11.30 , it was served till 12.00 we were rather disapointed there wasnt much left it was supposed to be all you can eat but what we got was lovely so cant complain

all in all i rather the premier inn mosely street much nicer staff

Stayed on Sat 5th January. Put in room 166 - first floor, right on the corner of a crossroads and just above the taxi rank. Saturday night/Sunday morning on the busiest road in Manchester. Appropriate amount of noise/sound effects all night long - managed 2 hours of sleep. Think we were lucky to get that much. Avoid this room!

Room Tip: Avoid room 166 (and maybe 167 as well).

Stayed here for one night early January. We arrived a little sooner than we had planned and our room wasn't ready but we just left our case in the baggage hold and went out to explore the city. There is great Weatherspoons two doors down. Around the corner is China Town and it is only a short 5min walk of the main shopping area.
We were given a family room which was huge although it took a while from the lift to get there. The hotel was very clean well kept and the breakfast was one of the best we have had in a Premier Inn.
We will certainly make a point of staying there again.

We arrived from Belfast on 3rd Jan hotel was ok a little dated. The room was for 3 but only had 2 sets of towels but asked for another set and pillows which was no problem. However being woken up by the road sweeper at 2am and the building work next door at 7am was not a great start to our break housekeeping and breakfast was fine again we were woken up by people coming home in the early hours and more building work noise on Saturday. I had booked a table in the restaurant for Saturday evening and arrived with no note of our booking we had booked the table for 530pm so we could go to the theatre for 715pm we ordered our food at 545pm and at 635pm I had 2 ask if our food was nearly ready we rushed and ate it as we had ordered the meal deal and still had to get our desserts at 705pm I had to cancel the desserts as it was to late the waiter said there was only one chef (on a saturday night) on checkout I was asked how was our stay and I said about the noise and she said we could have moved rooms however I was not expecting building work to be going on on a Saturday morning so offered us a refund for the 2 nights we didn't sleep well I have stayed in better premier inns in Belfast I would still stay in a premier inn but not this one.

Stayed here for one night between Christmas and new year. Check-in was quick and easy and the room was up to the usual high Premier Inn standard. Great location on Portland Street, 5/10 min walk to the main shopping areas. Ample parking at a reduced rate at the Q Park just around the corner. Buffet breakfast was served until 12 on Saturday which gave us plenty of time for a lie-in!

Really nice premier inn however it's a little bit out of the way of the town centre! The breakfast was ok but not worth £8.00! However the pleasant staff and comfy bed definitely made up for it! I would definitely recommend the inn but take comfy shoes as you will need to walk!

Always a pleasure to stay at this Premier Inn, just a pity the air con units in the bedrooms have been disconnected and replaced by small wall mounted heaters. These are controlled by a wall mounted panel with a maximum temperature setting of 23 degrees. However, the heater cuts out when it reaches 23 degrees, NOT the room itself. On winter days this is woefuly inadequate, so don't be afraid to ask for a supplementary portable heater which is more than up to the job.
