We took our nieces aged 8 & 9, the museum is great from children but also for adults on their own.
Lots of display case style exhibits, don't miss the information plaques as many of these come with very interesting stories - a few of which the children wanted us to read a second time!
We got to try on different styles of police jackets and hats and take photos, go to the old booking-in desk where a great enthusiastic museum volunteer explained what would have happened there to the children. We went inside the old holding cells, looked at photos of their former occupants, went inside the old Victorian court room, and got to sit inside a police car with the lights flashing! There was also a treasure hunt for the children with a prize at the end.
They were also handed many police branded freebies - reflective bag tags and zipper tags, stationary, story pamphlets, and more I'm forgetting (and I got a tax disk holder I needed!).
Both the adults and children thoroughly enjoyed it, carve out a couple of hours to spend here when in Manchester! Highly recommended.
