Room was small and bathrooms very tired

Nothing worse than booking an agreed rate then they sting you for a car park at £15, there is no barrier control so just tell them know I dont have a car and drive out

Will look elsehwere in future

Dear Guest

I was sorry to hear that we failed to meet your expectations on this occasion. With regard to car parking. A car parking charge has always been in operation at the Hotel and this is publicised on our hotel website, as well as third party websites we have control over. We do regularly compare our prices with other City Centre car parks in our immediate vicinity and when you compare our current charge of £15.00 per overnight stay, against other City Centre car parks who currently charge £22-£24 per overnight stay, we do compare favourably.

Our car park operates via car registration number recognition and as such, the exit barrier should only lift on recognising a car registration that has been registered in our system. Failure to register a vehicle at Reception, will result in the barrier failing to rise and as such, when the buzzer is pressed, individuals should be challenged. I will revisit this situation with my Reception Manager, as normally we do have tight control over this procedure.

Thank you for your feedback and do hope that sometime in the future we may have the opportunity to welcome you back.

Kind regards
David Daly

Me and my partner booked the hotel last minute and decided to use our points what we have saved to cover the booking. We stayed on 5/4/13 for 1 night and when we checked in we was delayed by at least half an hour as the check-in staff did not know how i booked it online with points and were asking for me to present vouchers ? Anyway we checked in and paid using 4000 points for 1 night stay and £10.96 in cash. We was given our room 1106 and when we arrived in the room there was an gastly smell and damp around the windows.

After spending some time in the room my partner decided to get a bath and cut his foot on the side of the bath due to a large piece of tile missing. Later-on that evening my partners ashma began to get worse due to the mould all around the windows in the room,we telephoned reception and was informed the hotel was fully booked so we could not be moved. All this and we are platinum customers ! We spent the night walking around manchester city centre and had no sleep in the room at all.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and never had any problems in fact it is the best hotel in the city centre usually and we have emailed customer service and had no responce at all.

Can someone please comment on mercure customer service ? do they respond to complaints.

Dear Guest

I was extremely disappointed to read your review; please accept my apologies for the obvious inconvenience you encountered on arrival.

To the best of my knowledge, we have not received directly at the Hotel any feedback from yourself. I would therefore kindly ask you contact my Customer Services Manager, Jane Shaw, directly in order that we can discuss your stay in more detail.

In the meantime, our apologies once again and I am only too sorry that your stay on this occasion marred what has always otherwise been positive experiences of our hotel. We look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Kind regards
David Daly

The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly is perfectly located to explore Manchester.
Piccadilly station is a 5 min. walk, which is very convenient when arriving from Manchester airport. It saves you a taxi ride.
Also both the lively northern quarter & gay canal street are within walking distance.
Staff at the reception desk and in the breakfast room are very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast itself is nice, if you love a good English breakfast. If not, although alternative food is available,
the choice might be perceived as a bit limited.
Breakfast is served in the bar at the 3rd floor, which provides a beautiful view on Piccadilly Gardens.
The rooms are not spectacular, just OK and no different than the hotel rooms in other Mercure hotels.
We spend 3 days in the hotel during the Easter weekend. Not sure if it’s the case every weekend but a rate of 145GBP on Saturday evening
is exorbitant and not in line with the quality of the hotel. Luckily, the rate was much lower the other days which made the overall bill acceptable.
Wifi is free in the hotel, if you are a patient person (only 256k/s). Otherwise, it will cost you 8GBP per day which is too much these days for such a common service.
In summary : good hotel to enjoy Manchester but if you’re planning to spend only one night during the weekend, there might be other options
where the price/quality ratio might be better.

We stayed here on 14th March after returning from holiday, the rooms are a squeeze and even more so if you have cases for 2 people. Good location though and we were ale to get the trams literally a 2min walk away.
Breakfast was ok we paid the £9.50 at check in.

One really good positive was we arrived at the hotel at 8am and they did allow us to leave our bags in a locked cupboard.
Waiting on the lifts is a nightmare especially if something is on, we got fed up waiting we eventually got icon our floor went all the way to the top and back down.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review following your stay with us on the 14th March. I was sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations to the full.

We do have differing room types at the hotel, our Classic selection of bedrooms which are our standard rooms. For those guests that may perhaps wish for more space, upgrades are available to our privilege rooms or superior rooms, and these rooms are indeed more spacious and come equipped with additional enhancements too.

My apologies for the delays that you experienced when waiting for a lift. When the Hotel is extremely busy I am aware that at peak times pressure can be placed on the lifts and this can sometimes cause problems in terms of people moving around the building as easily as they would normally do. There are, however, fire exit stairs at the side of the main lifts which access all the floors within the hotel, which guests are more than welcome to use. I am sorry if this was not communicated to you at the time.

I was pleased to hear that you found out location spot on and do hope that sometime in the future we may have the opportunity to welcome you back.

Kind regards
David Daly

Good value, recently refurbished Manchester city centre hotel. Ideal location for shopping and trams - especially if you need to get to Old Trafford! Large attractive bar and good bar meals (plus free wifi in the bar). Rooms are very comfortable and have far-reaching views over central Manchester. If you get a good deal it's well worth it. Also has it's own car park (although the one-way system is a nightmare, so use your satnav or local knowlewdge).

DON'T bother booking to stay here - they'll give your room away even if you have had the journey from hell to get there. The best they offered me as an alternative was BOLTON for chrissakes. WHAT IS THE POINT OF BOOKING?
They 'overbooked' and gave the rooms away first come first served. Greed is not an attractive trait.

Dear Guest

My sincere apologies that you were caught up in an overbooking situation at the Hotel on Monday and can fully appreciate the obvious inconvenience and frustration this must have caused you. It is not our policy to out-book guests but on this occasion we came across a situation that resulted in us having to do so. If you would like to discuss this matter further and to allow me to apologise personally, then please feel free to contact me directly at the hotel.

Kind regards

This hotel is in the middle of Manchester. A great location. The room was clean and good. It was a weekend the rate for the breakfast was £7.50. We found the breakfast very good. We would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a lower floor. We asked and got an executive room, but without the frills, ie rope slippers...
