“At least four star quality and service, in the centre of Manchester”
Reviewed 17 September 2012

This is a superbly located, quality hotel which offers good value for money. The bed was very comfortable and the staff and general service was excellent. There is a lovely cocktail bar which serves snacks until late in the evening, as well as a restaurant (which we didn't try).

We did not eat breakfast at the hotel because, even for the cheaper option, it would have cost around an extra £17 per day for the two of us! There are plenty of places to get a good breakfast in the centre of Manchester, so this is not a problem. I'm sure the breakfast is very tasty - but slightly over - priced.

Stayed for one night for a theatre visit and can only reinforce what the majority of reviewers say. Nice, clean, modern hotel with a good ambience and pleasant staff. Yes, there are a lot of foreign staff but hey, if they want the work and others don't..........Liked the free wifi and Apple Mac and the efficient, quiet air con. Disliked the high bar prices. My only advice would be to book early as we did and got a good deal which included a top class breakfast.

Room Tip: As for a quiet room on a high floor

Was delivering a training at this hotel and stayed the Friday night before. LOVED getting a warm chocolate and nut cookie when I checked in. The room was clean, well appointed, and more than spacious enough for my needs. The hotel in general was quiet, clean, and pleasant. Breakfast was included and it was quite good. Also, you can't beat the location, just a 5 minute walk from the station and two Starbucks.

Price (£99) was considerably more than I would pay myself, but since someone else was paying...

I stay in Manchester often for business meetings - this was my first at Doubletree. A very well done hotel, lovely rooms with nice touches like the iMac TV, lit wardrobes (not necessary but lovely), and high standard of comfort. The best thing about it was the staff - very friendly and attentive. I got a home baked cookie on arrival, and a chap was letting me know that 'we are ever sorry for your wait to check in' - my wait was hardly 5 mins. Nice touches - they clearly want to impress. On-site hotel parking which is very handy in a busy city centre. Across the street for Michael Caines' Adobe, close to Malmaison and across the Piccaddily Train station.

Spent just one night at the Doubletree during a brief visit to Manchester. In a good location right next to Picadilly Station. Hotel is simple, modern style - rooms are bright fresh and well equipped - you even get an imac computer in every room (not that we used it). Staff very welcoming and attentive - clearly trying to emulate the style of service you get back in the US. They even give you a warm cinnamon cookie at checkin. Only negative comment is the expensive drinks in the hotel bar (£18 for two glasses of house wine). I know these places cater for corporate guests who are expensing extras like this, but £9 for a glass of wine is steep for a mid-range hotel.

Would not recommend this hotel. It's basically in all the title. Couple this with a tele who's sound is out of sync with lip movement, noisy room a/c and a bar full of overpriced drinks with hidden surchage and you've got a horrible hotel i would never recommend.

Room Tip: No good rooms that I know of.
