We stayed for one night with friends based on the TA reviews and we were not disappointed. Good ambience for such a centrally located hotel. The service was excellent. I had to check to make sure we were still in the UK! The iMac in each room was a nice touch and a good advert for Apple. The bar had a nice feel to it and staff very attentive. Breakfast first class. Parking is not included in the hotel but it is avaiable right next door for a fee of £10.80 for 24 hours (10% discount is given at reception when you present your ticket before paying). All in all an excellent base to sample the delights of Manchester (particularly if you arrive by train.) Will definitely be back if we can get another competitive deal.

Only a short walk from Piccadilly train station and the main shopping, theatres and restaurant areas. A very welcoming feel about the hotel and all staff were friendly and efficient. Reception staff made us feel lile they really cared if we had enjoyed our stay. An excellent breakfast with tasty food cooked to order and a good choice available. It wasn't the usual serve-yourself, unappetising, cold, dried up servings found in other hotels. Bed was comfortable and the room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Some noise outside late at night, but to be expected in a city and on a Saturday night near to Christmas. The hotel itself was peaceful. The Bar area is relaxing and there are plenty of sitting areas around the hotel. The hot water in the shower was scalding hot and we couldn't regulate it unfortunately, but if we'd been staying longer than the one night I'm sure that it would have been sorted.

This hotel, has excellent discounted rates on the weekend, from £59.. I had this offer including breakfast and free use of the onsite gym, it is right opposite piccadilli station, and not far from the coach station, it commands a nice view of the station.
This hotel range has a unique point, in all rooms are a imac, which is available for free internet use, and a range of dvd's from reception to use on the machines.. a nice idea.
Also, the room has the usual, double bed, wardrobe, tea/coffee facilities, a charged bar, free wifi through the lobby and a nice bathroom, with a power shower,
Staff were friendly and curteous, the breakfast was nice but a simple far with cereals and toast, and the option to order off a menu, a la carte.
A nice hotel for a discount rate.

Unique Qualities: Location, discounted rates on the weekend, I-Mac computer with free internet use + dvd player.

My wife and I spent a night at the City Inn after first booking and then cancelling at the the nearby Malnmaison on reading some very poor reviews on Tripadvisvor.
The City Inn is well located - just across the road from Piccadilly station and a short walk from the shops. The check in staff were very welcoming and the staff throughout the hotel were friendly and efficient. We requested an early check-in but didn't get it.
Breakfast was particularly good. Hot food was by order only - this worked because staff were attentive and there was little delay.
The room itself was okay but nothing special. Soundproofing wasn't great and there was some noise from other guests and the trams below our window. There was only a shower in the bathroom. The "entertainment centre" with free internet was a nice touch, though not altogether easy to operate, especially if you're not used to Apple Mac.
The Bar was comfortable and there was a decent choice of drinks and snacks.
The City Inn is the number one rated hotel in Manchester on this site but it's hard to imagine that there aren't other hotels with a bit more wow factor. A good, competent, well-located hotel. Worth a visit but don't expect too many frills.

All staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and help you. The rooms are small but intelligently designed. The highlight in the room is the iMac TV/radio/PC equipment with free internet connection.

Stayed in the City Inn, Manchester on a weekend away with my wife in November. This hotel is a great spot for a break in Manchester. We took the short train journey from Manchester Airport into Picadilly railway station and it was only a short walk from there to the hotel.

On arrival, we met with the friendly staff at reception who were willing to help with any additional queries or needs that we had. Our room was perfect and in a nice location facing the back of the hotel. The iMac in the room was a nice touch and the free internet access was useful for checking out some last minute directions and looking up what was on in Manchester for the weekend.

After a comfotable night's sleep we headed to breakfast early the following morning. The staff in the restaurant were excellent and the quality and selection of food could not be faulted. On the Sunday morning, we were concious that the restaurant could be busier so we had expected service to be a little slower. After a short wait for a table, the staff worked hard to ensure that they maintained their high level of service despite the extra numbers.

The location of the hotel is perfect if you are planning a bit of shopping on your trip. It is just a little over 5 minutes walk to the top of Market Street and the Arndale Centre. The free city centre shuttle bus also leaves from the railway station across the road and will drop you outside M&S at the end of Market Street near the Royal Exchange.

The hotel is also perfectly located to enjoy Manchester's nightlife. We headed out for 2 great meals on the evenings we were there. We went to Chaophraya on Friday evening - a really good Thai restaurant and bar. Went to Room on Saturday evening - a restaurant with an excellent selection of food and a must for cocktail lovers!

I will definitely be making a return trip to the City Inn and would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed in this hotel overnight on a recent trip to Manchester for a gig at the MEN arena. This hotel is in a great location in the city centre for shops, nightlife (especially if the gay village tickles your fancy) and the MEN Arena which were all in walking distance. The room was modern and clean with little luxuries that made a difference - bath robes, a power shower and nice toiletries. If your budget can run to it the mini bar selection was excellent but pricey. The breakfast provided was excellent and was available until late which is good for those who like a lie in! The selection available for breakfast was vast from cereal to full english. The staff were friendly and helpful, I would have no hesitation in staying here again! The value for money was not bad considering the quality of the hotel and it's city centre location,
