Stayed for one night. Excellent quality but for a couple of small details.
As with many hotels you could hear doors banging and talking as people came back late at night.
The shower door wouldn't quite close so it was impossible to stop some water getting onto the bathroom floor. Also the tap in the washbasin was loose. But the towels and toiletries were very good. And the room and bathroom were clean and fresh.
Check in and restaurant staff were pleasant and helpful. Three of the yoghurts on the breakfast buffet were beyond their use by date. But generally standards were good and I can see why other reviewers rate it so highly

Second time we have stayed at this hotel but first as a "mint" one.
The things we loved about it first time are still there. The service, as far as I am concerned, is unrivalled in any hotel I have stayed in with a room tariff of under £200. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone was polite, friendly and exceedingly helpful. Due to my child's illness I was unable to use one of the night's accommodation we had pre-paid for and part of the rate terms and conditions were that the penalty for this was 100%. Never-the-less I was able to transfer the room with no trouble to some friends of ours so that the night was not a complete waste. This was all done last minute with the minimum of fuss.
Booking requests were taken care of - we asked for a quiet room on the side of the hotel away from the Picadilly flashing billboards on a high floor. Early check was not required but we did get it last time.

The room itself was well proportioned and set out. Lots of little touches which make a stay more comfortable like air con/heating set to your preference, sewing kits, ironing facilities in room, hair dryers etc and a fridge. The bed was large and comfortable with 2 fluffy pillows each. There is of course the Imac entertainment system which is fantastic and the free wifi great for iphone/smart phone aficionados. You can also plug your mp3 player into the JBL speakers which produced a good quality sound. We had a problem with the connectivity of the Imac in the morning of our stay but a technical person was sent to our room within minutes of me calling the problem into reception.
Shower was powerful and the smellies were good quality. Everywhere was clean and mostly well-maintained. I do think some of the fixtures and fittings in the room we were staying in were showing signs of wear and tear - bumps and bashes to the dressing table and a wobbly bedside light but this did not impact on the enjoyment of our stay in anyway. Also noticed the furniture in the lobby was in not quite as good a condition as it had been on out previous stay.
We loved the bar area, really fantastic atmosphere and not too ridiculous prices.
Caution: Check the prices before you give in to the temptation of the mini bar!

I think the hotel has got it almost perfect, certainly in the customer service dept it excels. It will have to make sure that the maintenance programme is constantly rolling over and keeping all it's bits and bobs in good working order to continue to be No 2 in Manchester as voted for by Trip Advisor members.

Our friends who had our first night's accommodation reported that they were also very impressed with the service and the quality of the hotel.

Very nicely designed hotel.

Rooms were nicely designed. Comfortable sleep, and loved the apple computers providing all entertainment system. Free wifi also big bonus.

On site parking is limited, and use of public car park is required. If driving do check with hotel first, as although parking is around the corner, manchesters one way system adds time on the journey.

Wonderful welcome, great rooms, brilliant room service menu and a great little gym. Topped off by some of the friendliest service from hotel staff ever. I stay in hotels often for work and this is one of the best.

I stay regularly at the London Westminster Mint Hotel, and the Manchester property follows the same format. Staff helpful, rooms well thought out, and a great breakfast freshly cooked for each guest.

My room on this trip was the nearest to the lift lobby, and the ping on the arrival of the lift was loud enough to keep me awake (as was some of the night time activities of other guests) - and on a christmas party night, there was a fair amount of coming and going until late.

So, next time I'll make sure I get a different room, and then it should be a five star review.

Odd things: the light switch is not near the room door.
The Entertainment centre is an Apple computer - but the remote is not perfect - difficult to switch off the unit using the tiny remote.
The name change: Why Mint??

What one thing would make it better (other than better sound proofing)? A bedside radio.

We stayed overnight. Standard rooms were a good size with wi-fi and tv accessed on a very nice Apple screen. Very clean except for a grubby wine glass. Beds seemed a bit hard but got a great night sleep.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar area was good too.

Stayed here Saturday 11th December. Hadn't realised that the hotel had been rebranded from City Inn to Mint so when trying to find the reception in the car we were initially confused by the lobby labelled 'Mint Hotel Reception'.

Nice secure carpark £15.00 for 24 hrs underneath carpark but limited spaces on a first come first served basis.

Room not ready on arrival so offered an alternative room which was adapted for disabled use. Nice size and receptionist explained about the walk in shower etc.

Room nice and clean, ordered room service which was very prompt.

Went down for breakfast at around 10.00am and told we would have to wait 30 mins for a table - ok its December and its busy. We waited a good 30 mins then we were shown to our table - staff very apologetic. Hot food made to order with a good selection.

So we waited and waited and waited. Eventually we asked the waitress why other people around us were getting their food and not us. She checked on our food and was again very apologetic - it eventually arrived but not everything we ordered was on the plate, the waitress took away the plates only to come back to again apologise to to inform us that they had run out of the items missing off our plates. Then to top it all off we found a hair on a fried egg - needless to say we left the dinning room feeling very disappointed, hungry and that we had wasted alot of time nearly an hour and a half just for breakfast.

Upon checkout Scott asked if our stay had been ok - I told him it had been accept for the utter farce at breakfast - again he was very apologetic but thats all! The staff seem to have been trained very well in apologising to guests!
