“Good, but has some faults!”
Reviewed 9 March 2009

Had great difficulty locating entrance to car park, to find it full so had to park at open NCP nearby, I could not get a 24hr ticket so had to return before midnight to re ticket. Check inn quick and easy, very pleasant staff. Room very clean, excellent size and comfort, bathroom probably the largest I have come across. Restaurant location a bit unusual. Evening meal was very good with the exception of staff who came across a bit disinterested, one meal came with sauce (Not requested) so returned. Menu stated large wine list, quiet small from what I was shown. After dinner went to bar for a drink only to be told to sit at a table and someone would serve us, but this service a bit slow for the number of staff around, too busy talking. All in all for the rate we paid I should not complain but if at normal rate you could find same standard hotels but with better service.

Thank you for your valued feedback. I am not complacent about our failures and I have discussed the issues with my team involved. I can assure you that more care will be taken in the future to ensure that the usual high standards of service and quality are adhered to.

We booked this hotel as it had mainly positive reviews and we were able to get a fantastic deal online. We expected a reasonable standard and I can honestly say it exceeded all expectations! Check in was great and the secure parking was good - altough they could do with more! The room was spacious, clean, with a great bathroom and really comfy bed. Complimentary water was a nice touch and security is great - we returned to the hotel after 11 pm due to attending the Snow Patrol gig and had to give our details to security to gain entry.......I think this is very reassuring for guests.
The location is good, just a 15 min walk to the centre and breakfast is fabulous. A quick mention about concierge - she was particularly helpful taking time to highlight a map for us as we didn't know the area. Would definately stay here again, just for a bit longer next time!!! Thanks Macdonald hotels!

Stayed here for one night and must rate it very high. Very professional staff, excellent location, very large room and huge bathroom. First class breakfast the following morning. One small comment - only one (ordinary) tea bag on the hospitality tray (plenty of specialist) and I had to phone down to Housekeeping for some more. No one answered the phone on first try and took second try 30 minutes later. This really should have been checked when the room was serviced prior to our arrival. Also I must comment on the bar prices - which I thought was pretty high - even for a four star hotel. (Glass of Dry White Wine for £12 a glass)!

Thank you for your kind comments, it would be great if you could contact us, regarding the price of the glass of wine, as we have full bottles of wine for a little more.

We stayed here 2 nights, the hotel is in quite a central location and very close to the station. The room was spacious with nice big windows and the bathroom was nice with a deep bath (but not a walk-in shower as advertised). The staff were very friendly and quite willing to go out of their way to help. The spa was nice but quite small, but a nice extra. We had a very nice stay, the only complaint would be that the hotel doesn't have a pool!

This hotel is very easy to find, a 5 minute walk away from Piccadily Station. Reception was speedy and room was lovely, clean, and quiet. My bathroom only had a shower, and though I like to indulge in a bubble bath, the shower was very refreshing and powerful. The sauna and steam area were excellent and free to hotel guests. I did not try the spa.

Breakfast was very fresh and tasty, though there were no hash browns - a minor point.

Overall an excellent hotel for business or pleasure.

One of the best hotel experiences we've had. Friendly staff and wonderful dinner in the restaurant. Great room too, spacious and modern with a king size bed! Breakfast was pentiful and hearty. This rates much higher than 9th best hotel in Manchester. We stayed in the Aurora on our 2nd night which is rated 4th and its heaps better than that one.
One to return to.

We stayed here for one night as a 'get away' from home. We booked through late rooms websiteand got a great deal.
The room was very big, I think they have knocked 3 rooms into 2, to allow extra space. We had a kingsize bed, sitting area, desk, tv, and a large bathroom, with 2 sinks, separate shower and bath. Nice touch was complimentary mineral water in the room.

The spa was small, and quite busy with a hen party. There is no pool (expedia says it does have a pool) but a few different rooms, such as infra red, sauna, steam, ice (!). It's enough to keep you occupied for an hour or so, and is included in the price.

The location was great- we walked to Picadily gardens for shopping, and to Malmaison for dinner (not that great!).

One thing to improve- a clock-radio so you know what time it is!
Overall I loved this room an hotel, and would definitely go back!
