Visited early on Sunday morning whilst waiting for my wife to arrive I ordered a coffee and a water, being a nice day I wanted to sit outside and open a tab. I was told that as I was likely to walk off without paying, I couldn't do this. I then offered to leave my card behind the bar as is pretty standard practice in most bars I frequent be it London, Manchester or wherever; you are then generally given a tab card which you present for further drinks or food.
Having finally acquiesced to my request I took my seat outside and waited for my drinks. 5 minutes later, the Manager came outside to tell me he wasn't prepared to do this and my card was invalid. This individual did it in a most smarmy manner at the top of his voice which was highly embarrassing in front of other patrons. In all my years I have never received such shabby treatment from a bar/restaurant. I would add finally that when I use this bar in London which I do frequently I have never had any kind of problem and I certainly have never been accused of leaving without paying. Avoid like the plague if you value any level of service higher than that you would expect to receive from Burger King.
