“B Lounge @ The Bridge - awful!”
Reviewed 4 December 2011

Visited B Lounge @ The Bridge recently for Sunday lunch and had a truly awful experience. Poor service and awful food.

The Bridge promotes itself as stylish surroundings, quality service & fantastic value for money this is far from my experience.

The restaurant is unclean. Take a look at the amount of dust the owners have allowed to build up around the dinning areas in particular on the spindles going up the stairs.

Service:

Waited 20 minutes to order drinks. Eventually we ordered a bottle of Garnacha, Borsao wine. The starters had arrived and we were still waiting for the wine. We asked the waitress and she said they didn’t have the wine we ordered available.

We ordered two goats cheese tarts. The waiter retuned about 15 mins later and said they had no tarts but they did have fish cakes. My friend is vegetarian so fish cakes were not a suitable alliterative. She opted for soup and I went for chicken liver pate with cranberry sauce. When the pate arrived the waiter said they had no cranberry sauce but they would get some Brandston. The Brandston arrived as I finished the starter and in event did not go with pate. The soup was cold.

We ordered the roast chicken dinners as it said on the specials board. The waiter returned to say it was actually turkey. Went the food arrived it was awful. Dry grey turkey with tied vegetables and a very small portion. Dry small roats potatoes.

Overall an appalling experience at the B Lounge @ The Bridge, bad service and poor food in a city that is renowned for it’s food.

I would not visit here again (even if the food was free!)

“Could try harder with lunch crowd”
Reviewed 31 December 2010

Good bar, busy with mixed crowd. Not sure if the kitchen was short staffed, but our table of six took over 30 minutes to serve with a main course at lunch. When the food came it was fair for the price, but a duck breast was tough. The plates were so hot they were uncomfortable - even 5 mins into eating the meal!

Table was sticky and wobbly - and the staff ignored our comment about the duck breast. The restaurant itself felt a bit tired and unloved since their last refit.

Cardinal sin: their website offered a 50% off voucher valid mon-thurs, but when I called to book for thursday lunch, they told me that the voucher would not be honoured (because they don't run their own website!!). That smacks of poor practice - if not dishonesty. The staff seemed to have received a lot of comments - and offered the contact details of the managing director.
