We were so wrong! We read reviews before going and were expecting somewhat overpriced food of mediocre to good standard. Party of 8 for a family get together so it was going to be a tough crowd. Food was excellent. I mean really excellent. I had the rack of ribs and it was "to die for" I had a full rack and gave half away to those who hadn't so they could taste how amazing it was. Others had steaks (various steaks, various preferences), sharing platter, etc. All were really impressed. We are a fussy crowd to please with at least one "hates everything" party member (me :-)). Even the coleslaw was amazing (and I hate coleslaw). The puddings were to die for. The food was so good, there was a lot of sharing going on so I got try both the truffles, the ice cream and the apple tartine. The surprise winner was the apple tartine - looked unappetising to me but the smell and the taste was an absolute winner. The service was really really good; that rare combination of enough attention to feel you were not wanting for anything but, at the same time, enough distance and sublety to avoid that feeling you can get of being crowded or hurried by staff. These guys n gals really seem to understand what people need when they go out to eat and delivered it without it seeming like an effort to them. We loved our visit in every way, so much so that we forgot we were out in public.
