“Lovely food, good atmosphere”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Had a really enjoyable lunch with family members on a Saturday in April. There were burgers amongst our order, jacket potato with Cray fish mayo & hunters chicken. Everyone was very happy with their food & left clean plates. The portions were really big, none of us could manage dessert. Sat out in the sun after lunch, the outdoor bar is a brilliant idea. Good experience all round. We'll be returning for lunch on our wedding anniversary on Sunday!

“Venue for Function & Restaurant for romantic evening meal”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Thinking of going here? Well I would again and again.
The Didsbury Pub's very own upstairs function room, recently played host to our baby's christening on Bank Holiday Sunday 25th May 2014. One word describes our choice of location and experience....Marvellous. Really it could not have been any better, our chosen package per head was for 35 and easily fed 50, food an assortment of tasty well presented sandwiches made from superior bread, whole grain and the finest bakery white, served with complimentary condiments and garnish as well as fresh off the stove chips. Our spread was considerably more reasonably priced than would have been envisaged by any of our 'highly impressed' guests. An impression that the boat had been at least slight pushed out by us for them all, was the order of the day, as all did pass compliment after more positive compliment and not just on the food and location. This was true of the feel and the appearance of this historical bustling eatery and pub, as inside on the ground level almost every table was filled with happy patrons, either eating from the Sunday menu or enjoying a tipple in the company of family friends and children.
Our Christening in their function room was fabulous we, were able to decorate the room from the day before without time restriction, as there was no booking for that day. The outside of the building is lovely with its many tall parasols and Mediterranean looking furniture, lovely to have photo's inside and out. The staff are really friendly too that goes for even the cooks too, though great stress must be upon them for the flood of customers seems never to let up, because the food is that good attracting them like bees to a honey pot. Surprisingly waiting does not seem to be an issue either, must be because there are so many snugs and hideaways to sit dine, with your nearest and dearest plus open areas too for larger gatherings. Back to the staff, everyone seems to busily walk about on some customer connected matter, with a warm smile upon their face, it just seems the staff likes to put the best foot forwards or they really like their job. Well that’s just our impression why not try out the place and tell me what you found, I’m just speaking from what I, my husband family and friends felt let’s hear what you felt. Signed Mrs Cleo P

“Still reliable and relaxed”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

We hadn't been to the Didsbury for ages, though it used to be a regular haunt. Had dinner there recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. The set menu was great value, including excellent 9oz rump steaks. Portions hearty and tasty. Service better than we remember it (though it was a Monday night and they weren't run off their feet!) and very cheerful and friendly.

“Very poor on many occassions”
Reviewed 7 May 2014 via mobile

I have been a regular here for years. With family and with friends. But the last few visits have all been so poor i just dont know whats happened. The service is terrible, waiting time is long, too long. Last visit we were sat down for 30 minutes before anyone even took our drinks orders. And food is even worse. The yorkshire puddings are just awful clearly microwaved, and soggy. With 2 small children having to wait an hour for lunch just isnt feasible or enjoyable. So im afraid we wont be returning until we hear things have improved. Very sad as we have always loved this place.

“Birthday meal”
Reviewed 4 May 2014 via mobile

The experience of this restaurant was like a game of two halves, after the orders were taken, it took nearly an hour to be served and when this happened everyones food was only Luke warm, for all and the waitress when told was very very rude! 0/5

The other waitress was a so nice and when she took over our table, our experience improved a lot and she offered free desserts and it coffees to compensate so I would give the second half 4/5
