“What a find!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2013 via mobile

In the midst of so much food that is the same and overcrowded restaurants, this was a treat to find. The staff are professional and engaging, the menu is interesting and varied and we tried the house Pinot noir which we enjoyed. There was a slight mix up with the food - bit of a language problem, however it was corrected quickly and happily - to me, one of the hallmarks of a good restaurant. The cost was very reasonable and each of enjoyed our food very much, so much o that I bailed up an English guy at breakfast to tell him about it. They deserve to do well.

“Quaint, atmospheric with great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2013

This was one of only a few restaurants open on a Sunday, so we were glad to have made reservations in advance. The restaurant is located in the Little Venice district of Colmar, in a building dating back to the 1500s. The weather was not so nice, so the bright white-washed interior was welcoming and very cosy. The building oozes charm and is just a nice place to 'be'. We loved it soon after stepping through the door!

The food was of a high standard and beautifully presented. The portions were of a good size and our choices perfectly cooked. To start we had the pasta with parmesan chips and a beef/prawn creation. The beef was literally melt-in-your-mouth, I've never had anything quite like it. Highly recommended. Main courses were entrecote of beef and sole (fish). Again all perfectly presented and very tasty. We actually had problems putting this all away since the starters were of very generous portions! We finished off with the baked chocolate pudding cake and coffee. The price we felt was fine for this standard of restaurant. For 2 people we paid €97 including drinks.

The service was friendly and attentive. This is a restaurant you must go to if visiting Colmar. But make sure you reserve a table in advance...

“Well above average”

Inventive food and attentive service. Not as sophisticated or elegant as JYS, but less expensive too. We like going for lunch as much as dinner. Have the gazpacho in summer -- it's sensational. Filled with locals which is usually a good sign.

“Gem of a restaurant in the heart of Little Venice, Colmar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2013

One of the few fine dining experiences still open after 930 pm on off tour season. A brightly finished restaurant with lovely rustic exposed beams and a white washed interior made for an intimate setting. Alsatian menus all with a twist and other bistro classics. For entrees, we ordered ' the Legume', an artfully assembled gazpacho made with a finely diced ratatouille with a lightly poached egg yolk enveloped by the chilled tomato based soup after serving, and the herbed escargot, smothered with a buttery pesto sauce that melted in our mouth! Paired with a lovely Remy Gewurtztraminer ( a bit more like a dessert wine, ideal for beginner wine lovers) and a Pinot, and a riesling. For mains, Alsatian classics choucroute and different cuts of pork lent to a hearty meal, huge portions unusual for most fancy gourmet restaurant. We also ordered choucroute poison, salmon sautéed to perfection, along side some shrimp and another fish which I believe was Turbot? All garnished with a generous portion of a creamed choucroute. Finished with an expertly made chocolate lava cake and vanilla ice cream and housemade raspberry sorbet and a butterscotchy ice cream garnished with chant illy cream and diced strawberries. All the for 79 euros. We were so full we could barely walk home!

“Gem of a restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2013

This was a lovely restaurant in Colmar. I believe it is a little off the beaten path and not touristy. The service we had was excellent and attentive. The food was delicious. They had different selections than other restaurants we looked at. We had a very enjoyable evening at Le Frichti's.
Every course/ dish was scrumptious. I would suggest this for anyone except maybe families with small children.
