“From Alsace with charm”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

This hotel is simple, but charming. Clean, large and comfortable, with a typical Alsatian touch. Situated in the very hearth of the city. It's a pleasure walking around, discovering Colmar just a few steps from your accommodation. Around nice shops, inviting brasseries and lovely restaurant.
I was there with my family and the hotel accommodate us at an affordable price. Breakfast is simple, French and delicious.

We stayed six nights in a small but comfortable and renovated room, with access to a large terrace shared with the room next door. The terrace faced the courtyard and was a quiet peaceful place to enjoy a glass of wine, Despite it's central location, right in the heart of Colmar, the room was very quiet which made for a good night's sleep. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard are peaceful and quiet.

This is an outstanding hotel for the price. Very spacious room and oversize bathroom. Very quiet even though the room was overlooking bustling street below. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The breakfast was the nicest I have ever had in a hotel. The room was clean and well appointed. Because we were two women traveling together, we asked for twin beds, but we were actually given a room with a double bed and a single.

Room Tip: Ask for room #24.

about this, as everyone else says, centrally situated, friendly staffed and comfortable hotel except, perhaps, very limited bar facilities. We solved that by buying a bottle of local rose from one of the umpteen local merchants and were cheerfully provided with a couple of glasses so we could drink it in the architecturally superb medieval courtyard - where we were also able to smoke. Colmar may seem like Disney on steroids until you remember that towns like this one provided the visual stimulus for such and are the genuine article. The Issenheim altarpiece is what drew us here but we found the place charming and the hotel likewise. Dog-friendly as well.

We stayed one night in Colmar and were absolutely delighted with Hotel Saint Martin which we booked the day we arrived on basis of other reviews and were not disappointed.
To describe the location as central does not really do it justice as it is in the heart of the delightful old city round the corner from the cathedral and surrounded by an array of bars, cafes and restaurants.
Our rooms all looked out over a quiet internal courtyard and were very comfortable .
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful; as noted by other reviewers the hotel doesn't have its own car park. We parked outside to unload and were provided with a detailed map showing the route from the hotel to the car park and the walking route back to the hotel.
We didn't eat breakfast as we thought it a bit pricey and there are plenty of places to eat in Colmar. The hotel doesn't serve other meals but there are plenty of places to eat.

We stayed three nights in this quiet, well located hotel. It is air conditioned, which is a plus. The folks at the desk are very helpful. Breakfast is one of the best we had in our nearly three week stay in France. The bathroom was very modern...and large according to most French bathrooms. There is an elevator if this is important to you. Our room overlooked a fairly main area, but there was little or no noise issues for us.

Hotel Saint Martin is everything you could want--outstanding location in a well-preserved medieval city in Alsace, with lots of activity right outside the door. Our room faced the main street, but the soundproofed windows effectively kept out the noise. Although the hotel does not have its own car park, there is a free city parking area a couple blocks away. But be aware that the lot services the city as well, so at times (such as Friday afternoon) it is difficult to find a spot. The hotel is very clean, and our room had a very modern bathroom. Staff is very congenial and helpful. Everything you'll want to see is within walking distance, so get out and enjoy the best town option in the heart of Alsace.
