Excellent hiking trails and many to chose from. We chose a less popular one starting at the top of the mountain which led to a short 20 minute hike overlooking the White lake. Most people hike from the bottom near a restaraunt but overlooking the whole lake from above was much better and only saw 3 other people, the site is 30 minutes from colmar and well worth doing
Very nice place to visit, plenty of trails our sat nav lost signal but we found a small car park which led to a 20 minute hike to the top ridge overlooking the White lake. By the White lake a small drive back down the mountain their is ample parking and cafes, it's 30 minute drive to colmar
These are breath-taken views and are just a must see. Even when you are looking around, it looks as a painting. Pictures do not do this place justice!
Yes, this is even more beautful than you see in the pictures.
Parking is available near Auberge Gazon du Faing.
Very nice walk in the area to see the amazing views of Lac des Truites.
It is easily to see the route start near the parking - to the top of the hill. And when you reach the hill top - "wow!" is promised. We did some round hike there with kids - about 2km.
Not much shade duting the walk - in the sunny days come prepared!
5 mins driving from the place - you can reach Lac Blanc - another cool place to stop by. Parking is just near the lake.
The Gazon du Faing is a very lush place with some amazing scenic views. Wear sturdy shoes, the hiking trail is cobbled with stones and boulders. we spent a good two hours just doing the tinies of loops, but you're able to see for miles and miles.
Gazon du Faing is about a 40 minute drive away from Colmar. However, it's a beautiful drive through the Wine Country, lots of cute, small towns, and up into the mountains. When you reach the pinnacle, there are miles and miles of beaten paths to hike around the lake, as well as a restaurant to enjoy food or drink. There are small areas along the lakeside for picnicing or dipping your feet in the water. I didn't see anyone actually swimming, but I would imagine you can. There are beautiful views everywhere you look, and we spent hours just sitting by the water, enjoying the day. Highly recommend the trip up, and then making stops at all the little villages on the way back to Colmar to buy some cheese, meats, or wine.
Tip: The road is paved until the last five kilometers, which are dirt and gravel off roading, nothing to major, though. Saw every kind of car, truck and SUV making the trip.
