“Outstanding hospitality at the Cour du Corbeau”

This hotel has first rate rooms and other amenities, but what really stood out for us was the staff's genuine warmth. When we checked out, we left our bags with the concierge so that we could explore some more before our train left in the early afternoon. We got caught in a rainstorm and arrived back at the hotel drenched and cold. As five people casually dressed, shivering and dripping all over the elegant lobby, we half expected the staff to hustle us out with our bags as quickly as possible. Instead, they offered us smiles, warm towels and a place to change our clothes. I would definitely return to the Cour du Corbeau and recommend it to others.

Very nice combination of old, carefully renovated premises and a modern, minimalist touch. Unique diversion from the local, somewhat stuffy style without feeling out of place. Welcoming, helpful and accomodating staff which gracefully handled a mistake I made when reserving. Convenient walkable location on the edge of the old town.

We arrived by car to the hotel. 22 Euros for valet parking or 11 Euros to park yourself. Some parts of the City are being dug up so had diversion signs which proved slightly problematic but we managed to park in the end. Car park is a short walk from the hotel but you can park just outside the hotel (the entrance is down a small cobbled street opposite a school) temporarily to offload bags.

The other entrance to the hotel is also down a small cobbled street and you walk through the outside patio area which is next to the bar and small restaurant. It is a very pretty hotel from this entry point. Beautiful old building with geraniums hanging in baskets outside and peaceful. The hotel has been renovated to a very standard and is modern in design inside but has been achieved in a sympathetic way to the old building.

Reception staff are very friendly and helpful and, like a fellow Trip Advisor member recently, we too got a free upgrade to a suite. Ours was on the top floor and was stunning. We were delighted with it. Large lounge area with sofa and television which then followed in to a bedroom area, again with television, with a beautifully comfortable large bed and wardrobes. This then led to an enormous bathroom area with two sinks, bath and then walk in shower and separate toilet. Air con worked very well. It was blissfully quiet. We had no problems with any noise at all. It felt like we were the only people in the hotel. All very clean.

We hired bikes from the hotel for half a day (7 euros per bike) which was a fun way to see the City. Safe cycling routes are everywhere. A short walk brings to you any number of restaurants either on the same side as the hotel or over the bridge - all were reasonably priced and served local cuisine or more international food ie pasta and pizza.

We had the buffet breakfast in the hotel twice. On the day of our departure we were up early (well we thought it was early!) and came down to find the small restaurant absolutely full of breakfast guests. For 22 euros it is pretty pricey but you can have as much as you wanted. For the vegatarian there isn't much option when it came to the hot food (scrambled eggs, bacon and diced sausage) but plenty of cereals, fresh fruit and of course croissants and baguettes on offer so that was fine. In the evening, however, the bar area had only us in it! We obviously didn't stay for dinner as there are plenty of other places so close and I guess other guests felt the same as we never saw anybody dine in the evening.

Strangely in this hotel the wi-fi not free. It is a small charge, 7 euros, but for a hotel of this standard it does seem a little petty to charge!

Strasbourg is a beautiful City. Well worth a visit. We would highly recommend this hotel as well. It is excellent.

The hotel is beautiful and well located: 2 minutes walk from the cathedral, the staff is nice and helpful.

I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Strasbourg for it will make you feel you are in Alsace. Take your time to walk through their yard and all the corridors, it is quite funny and I enjoyed seeing everthing from different points of view.

Two point I didn't like: their breakfast is ridiculously expensive, we didn't even think of having it and pillows are very hard, we felt they were like rocks! We requested a feather one but the person at the reception desk in the evening told us they didn't provide this kind of service (it was clairly marked in their information book they did, but...). When asked about it at check-out w were told of they do have feather pillows but might have run out the night before. So my advice is: make sure you check your pillows on arrival and request a different one if need as soon as possible!

We booked this before we left on our trip around europe on TripAdvisor/Booking.com due to the beautiful buildings which make up this centuries old 4 star hotel (recently renovated).. a great place to stay in the center of beautiful Strassbourg.

Somehow we also managed to get a ridiculous deal on the room paying 110 euro and getting a free updgrade to a deluxe room (normally 320 euro) with a view into the courtyard (see the photos on here)... whats not to like!! The room was great with a huge bed and a great place to stay in Strassbourg

TIP - if coming by car you need to use the parking garage on the next street which costs 11 euro per night

Room Tip: We booked in advance via TripAdvisor/Booking.com and got a crazy deal on a deluxe room for 100 euro...
