“Should be 5 stars!”
Reviewed 27 July 2013 via mobile

I can't think of a reason why this hotel isn't 5 stars. Great location, excellent service, modern rooms, classic building. What else can I say? Perfect!
My only criticisms are:
Fridge wasn't cold enough
Wine glasses too small in room
No ironing board/ iron

This exceeded our expectations (which were already high). Kind staff showed us to our room which was surprisingly large, even though we only reserved the most basic room. It was room #1, which I think was a handicapped room, even though we didn't ask for that specifically. AC in room made it good temp. Quiet, on the courtyard side, and a great location near all of the sights. Breakfast was included and was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Buffet with warm and cold food, really much more than we could want. Small tables outside in the courtyard to eat and waitress served coffee and juice. Highly recommend.

Average hotel but friendly and helpful staff. no hotel could be better located for sightseeing. Our breakfast was included and we ate in the outside patio...again friendly staff and good breakfast buffet;a stay here puts you in the arms of a surprisingly wonderful Strasbourg.

A well appointed hotel with tasteful decorations and comfortable furnishings. We stayed in a Junior Suite which allowed sufficient room for our family of four. The bed was very comfortable and the towels were large and soft. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. All staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The hotel is also in a great location within easy walking distance to sights and restaurants.

Once we had found this hotel it brings to life the cliche 'Hidden Treasure'. It is a little difficult to find, down a street with a bollard stopping you entering, but press the speaker and you are given access to the hotel where a worker awaits you move your car to a car park (€23 per day). Still the fascade of the hotel looks nothing special, but then, when you go inside, what a surprise.

The staff are wonderful. Because I mentioned it was my wifes birthday we had an upgrade to a junior suite. it was literally 10 metres from the reception/breakfast room and the courtyard where you could sit and have drinks surrounded by a 14th century hotel.

The exit from the courtyard brought you immediately onto the main ring road of the city. A bridge over the Ill took you directly into the old city. The cathedral was a 5 minute walk away, petite france, about 8 minutes in the other direction, and the tram systen was 100 metres down the street.

It isn't cheap, but then again neither is Strassbourg, but for a wonderful weekend well woth it.

Everything about this hotel was delightful and exceeded our expectations. Convenient location, just a short walk to the cathedral. The building is lovely and very clean. We were upgraded to a deluxe room. Very modern, yet charming. Great bed, large towels, robes and slippers, products and turn down service. The breakfast buffet had eggs, sausage, cereal, fruit lots of breads, etc. the staff was extraordinary ! Vp very friendly with spot on recommendations for dinners.

Room Tip: I recommend the deluxe room.

There is no doubt that this is a beautifully restored old inn, and the whole building is very smart and tasteful.

I was a little disappointed not to have a room in one of the older bits of the building as shown on the photos of the hotel. We were in a newer part in a conventional hotel room.

However, good bits about the room were - clean, well-furnished; bathroom; you get tea and coffee making facilities; and it was quiet. Best bit was the air con as we were there in particularly hot weather - it was easy to get the right temperature and very silent - everything you would want from air con, but rarely get.

I couldn't fault the staff - there were really welcoming, polite and helpful - including front desk, breakfast service and the bar.

Breakfast was a wide choice, typical of this type of hotel. added good bits were - freshly squeezed orange juice; a proper teapot with large selection of teas; good selection of breads and pastries.

Location is great, and a very short walk from the centre, but just far enough away to make this a quiet location, especially as is tucked away off of the main street.

What could have been better?

1. The shower - this was the most disappointing feature of the room - as was in a bath with no grab rails and the shower screen was small making the floor wet after a shower. Also hard to get the temperature right.

2. Breakfasts were a bit crowded - I don't think the room is quite big enough for all the guests. we would have liked to sit outside, but only managed this on the last of the 3 days we were there, as we went to breakfast early. The tables for 2 people are too small and you can't quite fit all your stuff on them.

3. Expensive drinks in mini-bar and in the bar.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the older bit of the hotel if that is what you would like.
