“Outstanding Hotel”
Reviewed 1 June 2009

This hotel was wonderful. Very clean, very friendly staff. Walking distance to everything - train station, cathedral and center of town, and le Petite France. Rooms were modern and pretty spacious. Bathroom was larger than most European bathrooms. Our room had a balcony w/ a view of the top of the major cathedral. Bed was comfy. Overall, one of our favorite hotels.

Situated in a slightly downmarket location but handy for the centre and most tourist attractions, this hotel has been recently renovated and feels fresh and clean. The bedrooms are spread over four floors (there is an efficient lift). Our room was on the fourth floor and was disappointing by virtue of a large wooden joist from floor to ceiling which impeded access to one side of the smallish double bed. This room was smaller than I would expect from a three star hotel, although all the amenities were there, including a flat screen TV capable of showing CNN but no other English programs. The bathroom is also small but the shower (no bath) was excellent.
This hotel appears to be on the coach party circuit. One consequence is that the smallish breakfast room can get conjested as thirty holidaymakers try to eat breakfast at the same time. Better to eat in the courtyard assuming the weather to be OK, or time your breakfast carefully, or use one of the many local eateries which are better and cheaper.
Overall, an OK place to spend a couple of days. Longer than that, I would need a bit more space.

This place is a very good option for accommodation when visiting Strasbourg. First of all the location is very close to all main sites you may want to visit in the centre, to shops and to lots of Strabourgs' restaurants.

At least in the evening and on weekends it's not too hard to find parking in one of the streets near the hotel. However the hotel provides no own parking and you will have to walk a bit if you prefer using a parking garage.

We stayed in a very cosy attic room and also the bath room was very nice.

What could be improved is the general state of the room: Bath room door did not close properly, one light didn't work and the room had fallen of the wall and was not hung up again but leant against the wall. Breakfast is rather disappointing so I would save the money and had for a cafe in town.

This was an excellent place to stay. The hotel had been recently refurbished (new paint & carpets etc). It was very central to everything in Strasbourg including the train station and the hotel staff were very friendly and obliging. I would definitely recomend this hotel to anyone travelling to Strasbourg.

  • Liked — Its central location, the fact it had been recently refurbished and the great staff
  • Disliked — No complaints what so ever.

The hotel is very well situated, easily within walking distance from the main train station, which is helpful if you arrive from say Paris or CDG via the TGV and have luggage with you. The area is not the most salubrious but otherwise safe. The hotel offers free Internet only in the lobby (only 1 terminal) and you have to pay for wifi connection to your laptop. The room I got was on the top floor which meant slating roofs which considerably reduced the size of the room. The bed was fine, and complimentary bottled water is offered only for the 1st day. Toiletries are NOT replaced the following day, and unlike other Mercure hotels the range of toiletries are limited to soap and shower gel. The air conditioning was switched off (I think) which was OK at night and the room can get quite warm in the day even in October. The breakfast for me was included in the rate and it was copious. However on weekends the small breakfast room gets crowded with lots of german retired tourists so it can be difficult getting a place. The hotel is within walking distance to La Petite France as well as to the cathedral area. As it is so close to the train station I could make a day trip to Colmar easily, so this hotel makes a good base to explore the Alsace area.

Let me start with the obvious: spotlessly clean & helpful staff & nearing a complete renovation. Only 2-3 blocks from the badly-in-need-of-being-renovated rail station, in a fairly typical rail station location area. However, in the opposite direction it is only an enjoyable 10 minute stroll through an upscale shopping area, to the center of the old city. And the Hertz office is only 4 blocks away if you want to pickup or drop a car. There are no limit to the hotel choices in Strasbourg, which is a fantastic walking delight of a city, & this hotel is just 1 of many solid 3 star choices, which I will use again.

This was a nice hotel, well located from the train station and town. Rooms were good with a huge bed and free internet in the lobby. Had a small balcony overlooking the street. If you like cappucino, go to Cafe Leffe, across from the train station, next to McDonalds. They serve it with real whipping cream. The best on our trip.
