I was there just one night with my family to visit the Christmas market now in december. The hotel has a excelent location in the midle of the old town, if you come by train, there is a tram station almost in front of hotel, so, you don't need to take a taxi from train station to the hotel. The room was confortable with nice bed and good furnitures. the bathroom has also a nice size, and everything seems to be new. The lobby is classic and the staff were kindly and helpful. i think that the hotel is better than the photos I saw in the internet. I didn't try the breakfast because we preferred to have it outside because it was cheapest, there are many options like Paul, brioche doree, etc. But trust me , this hotel worth the cost-benefit.

Thanks a lot.
You should have tested the breakfast so different with paul and brioche where you just can have café croissant and juice.

Maison Rouge is located within walking distance to all the lovely Strasbourg Christmas markets, shopping, and historic sites. We stayed on the 6th floor; our room had a view over the roof tops and was accessible from a tiny service elevator, but was quiet. The room was immaculate, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a deep bath tub, and we appreciated the large, fluffy white towels. The hotel lobby is nicely appointed, with a display of penguins and polar bears in the front window. All in all, I would recommend this hotel as it is immaculate, reasonably priced, and centrally located.

A few additional comments about this hotel: We experienced the staff as friendly and accomodating, but only to a point. We had a problem booking on ohotel.com, which had a rate that included breakfast, and had to book through the hotel. The staff refused to match the online rate, offering only to reduce breakfast from 15 euros/person to 10. So we found breakfast out, which is easy to do as there are many cafes nearby and a Brioche Dorée across Place Kleber. The room did not have a kettle, which would have been a nice touch. As others have noted, our room was not ready at 1500, and we had to wait about 20 mins. Unfortunately, nothing was mentioned at time of booking or check in about the hotel parking. However, we found a great deal at Place des Halles, just across the river for 11 euros/24 hours.

Location, location, location.

This hotel is smack, bang right in the heart of Strasbourg's old city. One of the tram lines runs right past the front door and will take you straight to the train station.

There is a breakfast room, but I didn't utilise it as I ate out of the hotel.

The reception staff were top notch; multi lingual and keen to ensure your stay was pleasant. We arrived a day or so prior to Christmas eve and the reception staff had a list of restaurants that were open over Christmas (with the advice that we should book as spaces might be limited). It was good advice.

The decor was bright red with the bathroom being bright yellow - rather gauche. But the bed was comfy and the stay just perfect. But overall, the interior of the hotel looks a bit tired.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't overlook the tram line otherwise you'll have lots of noise from them and people boarding them.

The Maison Rouge has great charm, especially if you visit strasbourg during the Christmas season. The entire hotel is meticulously decorated - in fact, Their window decorations of fluffy dancing penguins and polar bears even stole the show from the galeries Lafayette next door. The rooms are cosy and comfortable - nothing too special. However the bathrooms are very posh- a big bath tub and plenty of plush towels. The hotel's common areas make it a real delight. Each floor is a different colour and has different christmas decorations. Even the elevator doors are hand painted.

You will not be able to check in before 3 pm so make sure you have somewhere to go in strasbourg if you arrive before that time. We found the staff to be professional, and the hotel was comfortable. The rooms had no real view but the hotel is worth it for the common seatif areas, lounge and lively decor.

We visited Strasbourg for the Christmas markets and wear not disappointed. We stayed 4 nights in the hotel which is very close to everything in central Strasbourg. We left the car in the hotel car park (13 euro per day) and were able to walk everywhere we wanted to see.

Directions sent via the hotel access map were very good and we had no problems on arrival at rush hour on a Monday night.

The room was small but very clean and very comfortable. There is some noise from the trams outside during the night but it was not obtrusive and we put the shutters down from the second night to block out the noise.

Staff at reception were helpful but we did not avail of the breakfast as there are many reasonable places to eat nearby. I recommend the eggs and bacon breakfast in the Café Broglie nearby.

All in all an enjoyable break in a well run, convenient and reasonable hotel.
