4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2012

We stayed for three nights. The hotel is located close to the main tourist areas. We walked about 10 minutes to get to the big cathedral area and maybe 15 or so to Petit France. It was not an issue for us. The street it is on can be loud because there is a tram. We faced the street and had our window open all the time. It really did not bother us but I know others are sensitive to sound so ask for a rear room.

Our room was located in the stairwell which was a little different but there were no issues. It wasn't inconvenient or any louder. When you walked in there was a hallway. Immediately to the left was a room with a toilet all by itself. The next room on the left held the tub and sink. The room was big and the lighting was good. The only strange thing is there was no shower curtain. They had a short wall which I had to adjust to so I didn't get water all over everything. You can see it in one of the pictures I will post. It wasn't a big issue. They also had the wonderful heating rack behind the door if you need to wash anything out and have it dry overnight. There were also hooks in the hallway to hang your coat.

Our bedroom was very modern and comfortable. It had a very comfy bed with the wonderful duvets, small night stands, a built in desk and wardrobe, a long shelf that held the flat screen and gave you room to put your junk on it, a refrigerator stocked with items that we didn't use and a chair. The window that we had opened most of the time was really a floor to ceiling door. It was like a balcony with flowers on the railing, very pretty, but you couldn't step out on it.

There was free wi fi which worked well. There is also a computer in the lobby that guests can use. The lobby is modern and bright. Parking is a little bit of a challenge. You can park on the street but you have to feed the meters so it is not worth doing it for a stay, although we did do it on the Sunday we got in since it was free until 9 the next morning. The next morning we fed the meter until a spot opened up in the garage. The garage is under the hotel and has very small spaces. There are also 4 spots immediately behind the hotel, enclosed by walls. To access it you have to go in the garage door facing the street. So if you book there and have a car, book the parking too. It costs us 14 e per day for parking.

Breakfast was 11 e per person. It was very good. The breakfast room was on the second level (they may call it the first floor). The had croissants, pain au chocolat, baguette and some other breads, eggs you boil, a coffee machine, juices, water, cereal, some fresh fruit, cold meats, veggies, cheeses and yogurt - all tasty.

I liked the place.

Room Tip: Ask for a back room if you like an open window.

Positive:
-Helpful and friendly desk staff, who kindly let me speak in my mediocre French the whole time.
-Comfortable and clean room, nicely decorated, small by American standards, but I've come to believe American hotel rooms are just too big - this one was just fine, not at all cramped.
-Quiet neighborhood but easy access to the Grande Île and trams (walking distance to the Cathédrale, and even the train station).
-I felt my room was very good value at 89€/night (but the standard list price is much higher).

Negative:
-The bedside lamps are worse than useless. The "shade" is clear plastic, which means they're blinding to look at and can't be used to read in bed. And the plastic is prism shaped, which means the light cast is slightly rainbow, again making it annoying for reading. I know this seems like a small thing, but how hard is it to find a decent lamp?
-There's no top sheet on the bed. So your choice is big blanket or nothing, i.e. too hot or too cold.
-There's no shower door or curtain. Yes, I know this is France, where half the hotels have no shower door or curtain, but I still think it's ridiculous. Maybe it's easier for them to clean the floor every day than a shower door?

Neutral:
-Breakfast. Perfectly decent selection of pastries, bread, fruit, juices, hot drinks, cheeses, yogurt, but nothing extraordinary and a little pricey. Also, I was unable to find any milk for the cereal. I know, no need for cereal when there's pain au chocolat, but still.
-WiFi. My first day there the WiFi was absolutely horrible, connection dropping all the time, and it took me ~30 minutes to download a few emails. But when I gave it another shot a few days later, it worked fine, and it worked fine for my last three days (a little slow, but adequate). So I'm going to assume the bad connection the first day was a fluke.

Stayed there for 6 nights to visit a brother. It is really centrally located, walking distance to many shops and restastaurants. The rooms were cleaned everyday and quite spacecious for 2 adults. The breakfast buffet which is included in the room price are really good, fresh and more than enough, there are at least 5 kinds of bread plus the yummy croissants. The receptionists are always cheerful and helpful.

Strasbourg is a nice little city, charming in its own way, clean and not crowded. I will go back again to this hotel if I will visit Strasbourg again in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms at the 5th or 6th floors at the back side are quiet and nice.

Great location, five minute walk to shopping, cathedral, restaurants, cafes and bars. The staff was responsive to our needs, easy check in/out and free internet. Room was spacious compared to other typical European rooms. Spend the extra charge for the garage for your car and the great breakfast spread that was well worth it.

The street side room on the fourth floor was a bit loud in at night and in the morning due to the cars and city train passing by. We had the windows open and I wish we would have gotten a room on the non-street side.

Other than that the hotel, staff, location and breakfast were awesome!

Room Tip: Get a non-street room if you plan to have the windows/balcony door open at night and early morning.

We choose this hotel, because it has a private garage and that's very important in Strasbourg. Our room was quite big for a french hotel room, nicely decorated and quiet. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Our breakfast was included in the room price and was delicous: croissants, baguette, fresh fruit, ... To the center of Strasbourg you walk only 10 min.
