“Delightful hotel perfectly situated”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

This is a really wonderful hotel. Our suite was sensational - and included a tiny separate room with fold out bed perfect for our child. The beds were very comfortable and we slept extremely well. The bathroom was enormous and included a spa bath and separate shower. All very modern without impacting on the old world charm of the rooms. We loved it so much we booked an extra couple of nights. The hotel is in perfect location to explore Strasbourg. Highly recommended.

Stayed at the Hôtel & Spa Le Bouclier D'or in July 2013 for two nights.
Excellent location in the old part of the city, within walking distance of all the major attractions and many restaurants.
New hotel in old building with character, clean with good size rooms.
Very good breakfast, well better than expected – real value for money.
Will return.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful hotel at the end of August. Our sat nav took us straight to the gate of the courtyard and as my hubbie has a car that he doesn't like anyone else to drive the very kind and helpful man on reception let him park it in the courtyard for the 2 nights of our stay. All the staff we came across were extremely helpful and polite. The hotel is designed like a Moroccan Riad and the whole atmosphere was very relaxing and luxurious. Our bedroom was large with antique furniture and a wonderful shower. The spa was a lovely place to spend some time after a busy day sightseeing. Breakfast was wonderful, my hubbie was delighted about having creme brulee for breakfast! The hotel is walking distance to all main sites and to a huge selection of bars and restaurants. I would totally recommend this hotel.

We were welcomed by a friendly, competent staff who clearly were determined to make our stay a pleasant one, and they succeeded in every respect. This delightful hotel is within easy walking distance to the must-see sights and many restaurants. It was clean, comfortable and tastefully appointed. The breakfast offered a refreshing change from many other hotels, as there was actual variation from day to day. First class accommodations at an affordable price.

When we arrived in Strasbourg in the beginning of august there was a heatwave ( 38°C).
The friendly staff welcomed us outside after we called them. Ths location was not easy to find in the car-free city center.

The family duplex room was lovely, great beds and the airco was effective. We enjoyed the Spa and sauna's.

We went to one of the recommended restaurants: l'Eveil des Sens. It turned out a nightmare. When we commented afterwards the staff was quite embarassed the hotel had recommended us this place. Had this incident not occured we would have rated the hotel 'excellent' overall.

What a fabulous visit to Strasbourg! The hotel was the perfect choice. Our Sat Nav found it perfectly though we were fearful to drive into pedestrianised areas. Dont be! The staff were welcoming and accommodating.
The room was perfect for our family of four. The children had a sofa bed and bathroom downstairs whilst we were upstairs. A gorgeous bathroom, with lovely robes and whirlpool bath. Bedding was soft and comfortable.
We used the Spa facilities - very relaxing and the children were welcome too! Probably one of the most peaceful night's sleep we've ever had in a hotel.

Then in the morning, a step outside and you are right in the Petite France area and only a 5-10 min walk from the stunning cathedral. We found a spot there for crépes and coffee. What a magnificent view over breakfast!

This hotel really made our visit: we felt truly welcome and at home yet it was a real treat!

Very friendly and attentive staff, lovely old building with charm and character. Very clean and well maintained. Great little spa to relax.

Didn't try the food, but they make some delightful cocktails.
