Because the bridges are no longer covered, some people seem to be mistaking the Vauban Dam for the Bridges. But both have been rebuilt/repaired so often that even the 14th C towers seem much newer. The view from the Dam is good but I wouldn't make a special trip to see it.

A nice walk seeing the covered bridges and you can use a lift as well. The views from up top are great

It's easy to think you haven't found the right place because the three covered bridges are now open to the sky - they gained that name when they were constructed as fortifications, and the coverings were intended to ensure that the musketeers' gunpowder didn't get wet in the rain! It's impressive, and not a little daunting, to see the gun emplacements below, guaranteed to hole any approaching boat at the waterline, and the three towers, which were not only fortifications but prisons where torture and executions were carried out. An unmissable part of old Strasbourg, best viewed from the Vauban Barrage or from a tour boat.

Climb aboard one of the tour boats and take a tour around the city and under the covered bridges of Strasbourg. Its a fun way to get a differen view and don't forget to count the bridges! Great photo ops!
