The main reason that I went to Le Vivaldi was that it was open on a Sunday evening when few other of the many establishments along the Nive are. However, it proved to be a more than satisfactory choice. I had a large pate of charcuterie, followed by grilled merlu with rice and a creme bruilee. Very satisfying. Staff were friendly and efficient. I hesitated before giving it a very good rating but average would have been under ratin it (note to TripAdvisor - could there be a good category).

This is a simple restaurant with a lovely location, especially at lunch time its bustling with people but not too crowded, a great atmosphere.

The restaurant offers a good value lunch menu, either a 3 course for 12,50 euros or a quick lunch, which was a starter and main on the same plate. We both had the quick lunch, faux filet with chips and salmon with rice. The food tasted good, it was not spectacular, but it was very good for what we expected. The staff was very friendly, efficient and helpful and knowledgable about Bayonne, with some great tips.

I would recommend this place if you are looking for a quick pitstop or a no frills lunch, and if Bayonne offer a wide range of restaurants still for me to try I would go back here for another lunch.

We chose Vivaldi because of the three restaurants next to each other: one was full, the other was empty and Vivaldi was in-between.
We ordered starters and they came quickly. The portions were massive, easily big enough for a main course. They were of good quality and very filling.
The main meals were excellent and well presented. Home made chips with my Lomo, the first time I have had home made chips in France! Two other people in the group had fish, the portions seemed to be smaller than the starters.
Finally desserts arrived and they were of good quality but misadvertised. I had a chocolate tart which I was expecting to be hot but it was cold. It was also meant to come with a scoop of vanilla ice cream but it came with whipped cream.
The restaurant is right next to the River Nive and also a road which could get a bit noisy. At one point during the evening a car pulled up outside with spoken word blaring and the occupants came around handing us flyers promoting the revolution in France!
At the start of the night there was only one waiter (who I also believe was also the owner), he was able to serve everyone in the restaurant until around about our dessert time when the restaurant got a little busier and he fell behind slightly. He still maintained his personality though and he is the first Frenchman I have ever met who also spoke a little Welsh! Two of my dining companions were first-language Welsh speakers.
As the restaurant name suggests there was classical music playing in the background (I'm ashamed to say I couldn't tell you if it was Vivaldi or not though) which made a nice change.
Overall I would definitely eat here again, the Menu du Jour was very reasonably priced and could almost be shared by two people.
