“An oasis of calm”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2013

Even on a Sunday, Bayonne can be quite bustling with traffic, tourists and locals alike. Someone is always digging up a road in the centre of town creating noise and dust in equal proportions. This seems to be a 'speciality' of the town even after nine visits over thirty nine years ! But don't get me wrong, Bayonne is a fascinating town full of history, shops, cafes, riverside walks and a cathedral you can spot for miles. But where to go to eat that delicious bagette you've just bought for lunch? Step forward Jardin Botanique. Most of it is like a park, but head for the Japanese gardens. This is an unusual part of the gardens that sits atop a raised section. Stand on the bright red Japanese bridge and drop some bread into the small pond for the colourful carp. Watch the turtles sunbathing on the rocks and wonder how such a place can be so quiet and peaceful amid the bustle of beautiful Bayonne. Don't miss it.

“A refreshging oasis without a drink”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2012

A lovely oasis of beautiful plants and water features. Quite small but space is used to best adfvantage. We would have liked to have seen a place for drinks here.
