This was a huge let down for what can only be considered as a third rate and overly expensive and noisy property. The photographs flatter to deceive, as for example the stairs to the upstairs bedroom are very steep and would not suit many including the more elderly or infirmed.
Double glazing also could only be considered secondary, badly fitted and ineffective on the top floor. Upstairs neighbours noise was also quite an issue as these premises are not carpeted or soundproofed.
We chose to have a second clean and much to our surprise the following night found a dead mouse under the sofa.
Major construction works being undertaken in the city meant there were periods of high decibel noise, together with shop refurbishments being undertaken in close proximity early in the morning leading to a very disturb sleep pattern. Rubbish collections also take place every night at approximately 1pm.
No prior warning, or indication, was given that this apartment, which purports to be five star, would be unacceptably noisy even if beyond the control of the management.
The garage facilities were also subject to issues and considerably time wasting on numerous occasions.
We are seasoned international travellers and sadly must report a very disappointing, overated and expensive apartment.
The junior staff attempted to be helpful but were understandably unable to assist. The so called concierge services were not available at published times which also wasted our valuable holiday time.
This was our second visit to Apartment Chateau Latour Martillac in the last six weeks. We love Bordeaux and this fantastic find is perfect for exploring the city. The apartment is nestled between some retail outlets in the Place Gambetta with everything on your doorstep. You really get the feel of city living and the spacious apartment has everything you need and a high spec too! The service Bordeaux Home provide is really good, down to dropping your bags at the Boutique Hotel down the road if you arrive early as our flight usually does from Bristol. There are plenty of food shops nearby if you want to self cater, including a Carrefour metro over the road and an array of bakery shops for croissants or the apartment can provide a delivery breakfast service. Directly opposite you can hire a city bike which is a great way to see the city as it is flat and bikes are great and cheap too! I recommend a cycle along the waterfront and back through Chartrons and the Grand Park. We will be returning again soon.
