“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2013

A very attractive modern style restaurant - smart/casual - with a good atmosphere and pleasant efficient staff. The food was well-cooked and very nicely presented. I started with the St Jacques, then the tenderloin of pork and finished with a honeyed crème brulee. At 21 euros for three course you can't go wrong. If you're thinking of going then check out their website which details the choices available. The wine list has some good Bordeauxs but you can just have a pichet which is much cheaper.

“Great value for the quality of dishes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

We've been traveling a lot, and we were looking for a good restaurant, not just your typical French brasserie fare, that also wasn't too hard on the wallet for once. We found it at L'Escorial. Their 19Euro dinner menu includes an entree, main and dessert which is a fantastic value. The food is simple, but the dishes are inventive and the presentation is beautiful. I've never had a meal of this quality in France for that price in a large city. The location is also simple but cute. It is in an area of Bordeaux that is off the tourist path. I found the dessert menu the most enticing, with lots of delicious choices. I ended the night with a strawberry balsamic tiramisu, yum.

“Not very welcoming - kids? English speakers?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2013

While it was quite casual the service was very poor. The food was very nice, with possibly the best rabbit we've eaten. However we were made to feel quite uncomfortable - possibly because we had two children with us, or because we were English speakers.

“Great food, fabulous value.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2013

Outstanding value two and three-course dinner deals, with a very high quality of food and excellent service. This place gets very busy though, so if you don't have a reservation it's best to turn up as they open at 8pm, as we luckily did. The chips (French fries) here are probably the best I have eaten in my entire life!

“Outstanding food at a very reasonable price.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2013 via mobile

Myself and my boyfriend came here during our visit to Bordeaux after reading about the restaurant on Tripadvisor. We were lucky to get a last minute reservation. The restaurant was full, mainly with French people which is always a good sign!

The food was five star stuff; I had a cherry compote with goats cheese mousse for starters followed by rabbit with wild mushrooms and a melt-in-the-mouth hot chocolate pudding. Everything was fabulous and the menu changes daily.

The waitresses had very little English but did their best to translate a few words we didn't understand and were kind and helpful.

At €19 for three courses AND a glass of wine it was a steal!

We will be recommending this authentic brasserie to all of our friends visiting Bordeaux!
