I stayed in the Campanile Bordeaux Centre for 4 nights. It was a good-value option if you stay in Bordeaux.

Just a reminder, this hotel is not located in the Bordeaux City Centre.

Pros:

(1) A very convenient location though it is not in city centre. Just 3 minutes walk from the Gare Saint Jean (Bordeaux Train Station) or the Tram station, Taxi Station. The tram will take 10 mins to city centre. You can find the supermarket "Carrefour" or a pharmacy in 2 minutes walk which is a the corner of the next street. There are some convenient stores and food shops around the hotel. They operate after 7pm, you can buy food or water. No worry about cheap food and drinking water.

(2) Very clean room and comfortable bed though the room is not big.

(3) Staffs are friendly and speak some English. No problem in communication.

(4) Breakfast is not expensive, 9 euro in buffet style. The food in France is not cheap, but this is all you can eat with yoghurt, bread, toast, croissant, crepe, cereals, ham, cheese, juices, hot drinks like coffee and tea.

Cons:
(1) Please bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste and slippers. They do not provide them to customers. You may bring them in the reception but I cannot find slippers there.

(2) If you need to store luggages in the hotel after check-out, the cost is 2.5 euro per room.

Afterall, this hotel is a good deal and convenient. I recommend it to budget travellers who looks for quality and clean rooms.

The location was great, just a stroll to the tram and station. Just as detailed on the website, although rooms a a bit small. Clean, comfortable with pleasant staff. Did not encounter any shady characters, must have been away for the holidays. Great value for money. The secure carpark was a bonus... although we did have to pay.

Room Tip: Our room, on the first floor, was at the back of the building and was very quiet. There were connecting rooms, but didn't think to ask at the time of booking.

Presumed that this hotel was in the centre, but fooled by the name. The hotel itself is very clean and modern, nice rooms bar and eating area. However it is in the middle of the red light district. This means that to get to the train station you have to pass the prostitutes and pimps on every corner.

We stayed here for one night and primarily chose this hotel due to its proximity to the train station which we were using to travel through to Paris the following morning. What I liked about this hotel is that although it was cheap it provided everything you needed with style, the decor was modern and fresh, and everything was very clean. It is close to the tram stop so has easy access to the centre, and is just a 5 minute walk from the train station.

There is a restaurant in the hotel which we didnt use, but the dining and bar area was very nice and we did enjoy a drink outside on the patio on our one evening there.

If you are catching a very early train beware of all of the drunks wandering up the street outside of the hotel at around 5am, they seemed harmless enough but I hadn't realised how close we were to a nightclub until then!
