We found this hotel quite easily and parked. However, at reception we were given a passcode and recommended that we take our car round the back to the gated car park. The room we were given was large with a comfortable bed, plenty of storage space and long shelving surface for writing etc. There was also a small sofa for two as well as a chair for the desk area. The bathroom has a very low toilet, but nice sink and hairdryer as well as a comfortable walk in shower. Squeezy soap in dispensers was good in both the shower and at the sink. The receptionist and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant also the breakfast room was circular and off the large reception area. Food for breakfast was plentiful and a good choice.
It was also peaceful and not crowded but we may have be lucky because it was early in the year.
A very pleasant experience and would not hesitate to use it again.

The Le Lac complex on the North side of Bordeaux is a big exhibition centre and conference centre built around a lake. The area is home to a group of hotels, mostly belonging to the Accor group. We saw Ibis, Ibis Budget, F1, Novotel, Mercure and Pullman. There was also a Logis and a Campanile. Obviously in the week the whole area is full of business people attending events at the conference and exhibition centres.

The Ibis has slightly bigger rooms than usual and a full bathroom with bath. However, please could the Accor management take note that their unpleasant soap dispensers hung at shower height are useless if trying to wallow in a bath! The on-site restaurant is a branch of Courtpaille and as such provides a good evening meal.

We were delighted to be given a room that overlooked the lake, a very pleasant view. However, we were fortunate to be staying on a Saturday night. There is a major construction project in front of the hotel. They are obviously building a railway to connect the exhibition centre with the centre of Bordeaux. No work was being done at the weekend but on weekdays the construction noise would obviously be a major nuisance. The railway work is in progress directly in front of the Novotel, the Pullman and the Ibis so travellers beware!.

Room Tip: Beware the construction work in front of the hotel. This could seriously compromise sleep quality.

We stayed in this hotel on 31/12/12 [new years eve] en route to Spain. We rang the day before to book a table in the attached restaurant Courtpaille [the main reason for booking this hotel], to be told it would be closed but the bar and 24 hour service would be open.
' Our teams are here to streamline your stay. We've got a 24 hour reception, an ibis kitchen serving hot and cold dishes day or night and a non-stop bar.' AS THEIR WEBSITE SAYS.
As we were aware the restaurant would be closed we went to a supermarket and bought some food. On arrival I asked for a beer [6 euros] and a glass of white wine, I was told I could have a beer but no wine as the she did not know the price. We went to the local area to try to buy a bottle of wine without success. On returning we noticed 2 members of staff watching the TV and drinking wine, when I asked again for a beer and wine, I was told they only had one bottle of white wine they could sell me for 20 Euros. We bought the wine but felt rather ripped off. Usual Ibis hotel, handy for the moterway, shame about some members of staff.

The hotel is well placed for my requirements. The staff are friendly, the rooms are larger than most in this category, It has a good restaurant and a very good buffet breakfast. Lots to do in the area, casinos, shopping, and walking. Easy access to main highway.

This review is clouded by the fact that Reception failed to notify me of a Fax that was clearly marked for my attention. This lack of communication resulted in having to spend an additional night in Bordeaux; however, at a different hotel - a great inconvenience, and expense, to our travel plans. Also, the A/C was not up to the job and my wife and I spent a most uncomfortable night. We were informed that a refurbishment was planned, to include an improved A/C system, sometime in the future.

With regards to the more positive aspects of this hotel. Ibis, Le Lac, is located just off The Rocard which links to the the north/south Autoroute network. In a cluster of 'branded hotels' this is an ideal stop-over point or place to stay when attending events at the Congress and Convention Centre. Although Reception failed us miserably, as stated, they were polite and pleasant. The bedroom and public areas were clean and tidy and the FOC Internet worked well. We ate in the Courtpaille Restaurant where the service was quick and friendly and the food offering was ok, we did not take breakfast. Of note, the secure parking was re-assuring.

In summery, the hotel is well located for itinerant business and leisure travellers and those attending events being staged at the Congress and Convention Centre. Although the hotel is functional, clean and tidy it is somewhat tired and overdue for refurbishment. Obviously, the problem over not being notified of the arrival of the Fax referred to suggest that a staff training exercise is urgently needed.

Room Tip: Do not accept rooms facing the sun.

Ideal stop over just off the motorway and on the outskirts of Bordeaux. In a complex of other Hotels so quite a bit of choice here. A nice restaurant in the other Ibis Hotel right opposite.Secure gated outside parking and "pet friendly."

Room Tip: Nothing to view from the Hotel except other Hotels and car parks so room choice is not necessary.

Just off the motorway, or just on the edge of the Medoc region and easy to get to. Free parking. Reception was happy, helpful, pleasant and efficient. The room smelt a bit musty, but a short time with the window open cured the problem. Free wi-fi. Standard Ibis fare for breakfast, but plentiful and acceptable. The room was small, but very clean. Very acceptable for a stop over.
