We stopped for two nights on the way home from the Dordogne to visit Bordeaux. Disappointed with the central area of the hotel being renovated which felt like a building site. There was no indication of this when we booked. The restaurant and bar was shut. Men with drills and everything covered up.The room was reasonable and the secure parking was very good. Access to the centre of the city was OK but took 15 minutes to walk to the tram and a further 25 minutes to the centre. The old part of the city was worth it though, a great place to spend the day.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the lake.

This is a great hotel in the ‘slightly-above-budget’ price bracket. The room was large, modern, air conditioned, and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The window spanned the length of the room yet the curtains did an excellent job of blocking light, even during the day.

The bathroom was excellent, especially the shower – one of my pet peeves is low water pressure (which equates to a weak shower) but this one was great. It was also well stocked with towels.

The TV didn’t really have much English-language content but I wasn’t there for the entertainment and besides, I had my phone and computer. Speaking of which, the WiFi wasn’t spectacular but it was certainly useable. You are given the option of paying for a faster connection if you want it, but the free service was fine for me (it worked fine browsing Reddit, okay?).

This particular Ibis has a bar/restaurant attached to it. An English-speaking server was available and gave us English-language menus. We managed to order with only a slight mishap but that wasn’t really anyone’s fault. The only downside is that it took the staff about 30 minutes to get the bill (you have the option of adding it to the room tab if you want, but I was part of a group and we had pre-booked and paid for three rooms so that wasn’t an option for us).

There is secure parking at the back of the hotel and my room overlooked the rear so I could keep tabs on it (not that anything would have gone wrong though). Not a spectacular view but again I wasn’t there for pretty landscapes, I was there for a good night’s sleep and that’s certainly what I got.

I would give this hotel four and a half stars if possible, but it has to be a whole so I’m rounding it down to four.

Check in and out were smooth and room was standard clean IBIS room with a comfortable bed. Location is about 15 minutes by car from the centre and parking at the hotel is free.

Downsides:
- Free wifi not usable - speeds were so low that most Apps indicate that there is no internet connection and stopped. Not possible to book a next hotel.
- Is a business hotel where room cleaning starts early and cleaning staff do not seem to take into account that there could be guests still trying to sleep

Honestly this hotel was very up market in my opinion, the view from the window was overlooking the lake.

We checked in with no problems at all, we were given a pass code for the secure parking for no extra cost.

Free Wi-Fi provided in the rooms etc.

We went for a lovely evening meal at the hotel's restaurant, The Steak was ordered medium rare, however I deemed it to be just rare..... Being a tourist who speaks little French, I was willing to overlook this and take the positive that at least it confirmed I DEFINATELY do not like rare steak!!! :-)

Just 2 miles from the town centre makes this an affordable and pleasant stay! :-)
