WE have friends visiting us from the US. Many great days with them, but on this one evening, while we had plans to go to one of our favourite places, the lady member of our guest was down with a bit of flu for the day, so we decided to try a new place. Small, out of the way, yet still located in a very central place close to St. Remi and St. Catherine ( heart of tourist area) we found La Table Bordelaise. One of our local friends had recommended this place. We were a bit early, but they welcomed us warmly. Nice bottle of wine to start the evening and we were in for a real treat.
Two great entre's and then the the main course, followed by spectacular desert. Now we have lived in Bordeaux for a few months, and have become "locals", and the best thing about this restaurant was that almost the complete group of diners that eve were all locals. Very few tourists. This is a real treasure and we will return

If you are in Bordeaux do not miss this place: it is cosy, well-located, waiters are very kind and the food is excellent. The dessert called "chocolate therapy" is simply perfect.

Like many of the others we stumbled upon this restaurant while out walking our first night in Bordeaux . We had been given a couple of recommendations by the hotel but passed on them . They were all near the hotel in a heavily populated tourist area . We like the side streets and like others usually find the best restaurants off the beaten track. We did what we have often done on this trip . Find a place that looks agreeable then open the phone and check it out on our trusted source Trip Advisor . The rating was good . The door was open and the owners were preparing to eat their own meal before service began . Their food looked delicious . They took our reservation and we left in anticipation of a great meal . We returned at the appointed time and there were only a few other guests ,however like someone else mentioned within minutes of our arrival the place began to fill . Glad we had made a reservation . We took our waiters advice and ordered what we hoped would be a nice bottle of wine and plain water . The wine was good ,the food excellent . Judging by the conversation all around us most of the clientele was french and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food and the wine . What bothered us was the water , as we looked at all the other tables we seen they all had plain bottles of ordinary water . We found it a bit odd that only we had Evian . When the bill arrived the charge for that bottle of Evian was $4.50 . I guess they can spot a tourist a mile away . We always tip well even when no tip is required . In this case not a chance .

Local excellent kitchen. Outstanding service and genuine first class hand picked Bordeaux wine. The snails and the beef were a dream. No tables outside and a block away from the highstreet. This is a local French restaurant runned by a young team and they want to show a difference.

We'd arrived in Bordeaux via Spain and were still eating like Spaniards (i.e. 11:00 p.m.) forgetting that France eats like the rest of the world and is VERY serious about dinner and rules. We went from restaurant to restaurant to no avail: kitchen closed, no tables, “you look too North American”. And we were overdressed. BUT we stumbled into a wonderful bistro, La Table Bordelaise, just north of the port and had one of those mind-blowing meals that you know you’ll be craving on your deathbed. Simple, French cuisine that is the true heart of French culture and eschews all pretense and posturing of the “starred” gastronomy. (yes, I'm looking at you La Gabriel). The service was warm and inviting and there were lots of locals busily eating and having a good time. DEFINITELY one the of best meals and dining experiences I've ever had. Escargots, salad, steak frites with accompanying sauces to die over, dessert, two bottles of wine and sparking water - 66 Euros!!! I tipped like a madman. We'd go back to Bordeaux just for La Table Bordelaise!
