“Home away from home”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2009

We make the trip to Bordeaux almost once a year and never miss to book at the Majestic. As mentioned in the other reviews, the location is the best there is: steps away from the major retail area. Rooms facing Rue de L'esprit des Lois overlook the Grand Theatre.

The hotel was recently redecorated with a modern theme which took away some of the old charm it used to have. Nonetheless, the rooms are very clean and the staff very helpful and accomodating. Its location makes it perfect to stop by the room throughout the day.

they have WiFi in the lobby as well as newspapers including the International Herald Tribune in english.

The breakfast in the room may sound steep for 9euros, but it is nicely done with fresh croissants and prepares you for a super day.

Overall one of the best values for hotels in Bordeaux.

As usual, used Tripadvisor to seach for a hotel for our weekend break to Bordeaux. We booked hotel Majestic after reading reviews and were not disappointed. I booked online and then also called the hotel direct as I was also booking a room for friends who live in France and needed to book them a parking space. Nothing was too much (also spoke English which is a great help). Just before leaving I emailed them to ask a couple of things and received an answer back within 30 minutes. Great service yet again. When we arrived we were more than happy, this is a 3 star hotel but with 5 star service. The rooms were as described in there website and we booked a privilidge room for 129 euos. The room was extremely clean with comfy bed & very clean bathroom. One of my emails was to ask if the room had a hairdryer, may seem like a small thing but we were travelling light, they said they had hairdryers and would make sure one was in our room, which is was. It's just small things like this that to me, make a hotel a 'good' hotel. Would deffinatly stay here again and recommend to friends, not only for the hotel and price but for the fantastic location, seconds from the grand theatre and shops. Taxi from the airport cost 26 euros and the same back.

I reiterate what the other reviewers have said. We found the staff friendly and helpful, the hotel in an excellent position for absolutely everything - tram, taxi, food etc. We would highly recommend it to anyone. Our room was clean, and the bathroom facilities excellent. We would certainly return.

  • Liked — it was so close to everything - clean and friendly

As indicated by many other reviews on TripAdvisor I found this hotel to be pleasant, good value and well-located. It is in the historic heart of Bordeaux, close to the Opera and within metres of a taxi rank, tram stop for the rail station and airport/station shuttle bus stop. There are plenty of good bars and restaurants nearby and the area is clean and safe. The hotel room was of a good standard, the lobby/bar area is welcoming, and the hotel staff were notably friendly and helpful. I would definitely use this hotel again.

We chose this hotel on the basis of the reviews here which must say something. From speaking English to the receptionist, finding our room very clean if a bit small but quiet and comfortable we knew we'd found a gem.
All of the glorious sights of Bordeaux are within staggering distance - we are both nearly 70 - including a good choice of places to eat. We had our first Indian for over 5 years! As we live in the Perigord you can get a bit tired of foies gras and canard all the time.
Breakfast typical French but good choice.
Definitely going back.

Only downside - parking. If the Majestic hasn't a space it will be expensive. Saturday noon to Sunday 4pm = 32€ in the Place Tourny car park.

  • Liked — Particularly clean and very convenient for city
  • Disliked — Lack of parking

Booked this hotel on the basis of other reviews on this site and we were not disappointed. Fantastic location, great value for money (especially considering its location), decent size rooms and very helpful staff. If your travelling with children, get a twin/triple room for the extra space. Our room had a balcony reached via very large French doors, which was a plus. The JetBus (approx EUR7 pp or EUR6 pp for a family greater than 3 people) from the airport will drop you off just around the corner by the Tourist office and the hotel is just a short walk away. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
