Owner description: Quality wine tours run by Hamish Wakes-Miller, an experienced wine trader and knowledgeable guide to the best Chateaux in Bordeaux and the most interesting hidden gems in the south of France. Fun, enjoyable and educational.

Our cruise ship stopped in Bordeaux (La Rochelle) in October, 2013 for two days. Rather than being hauled around in buses, we found Hamish on this site. Out and out, this guy is terrific. He is originally from the UK and now lives in France. He distributes Bordeaux around the world. He is a negociant in Bordeaux - and also judges St. Emelions. He met us at the the ship at promptly 8:30 AM on day one. We spent that day in the St. Emelion area. At 6:00 he dropped us off at Grand Hotel in Bordeaux. All of day two in Medoc. Hamish is especially personable (fun!), knowledgeable, and well known at the various chateaus. He is an eager teacher, so I can't say enough how much we learned. Best two days of our cruise!

Hamish is truly an excellent host who introduced the history, complexity and backstories for some of the famous winemakers in the Bordeaux region. We found the entire trip to be both entertaining and enriching for our lifelong journey in wine appreciation. Most importantly, the lesson was not lost on us when he took us to neighboring vineyards which produced arguably similar wines but at astronomically different prices ;) Convenient door-to-door service is a big plus for me and lunch at the Lynch-Bages estate was an excellent choice (certainly to try the different wines by the glass). We'll definitely engage Hamish again if we return to Bordeaux or take up on his offer if we ever visit the Languedoc region.

My wife and I had a full-day private tour with Hamish yesterday and it was fantastic. Hamish gave us several options to choose from for itineraries, picked us up at our hotel and whisked us into the beautiful Bordeaux countryside. He is extremely knowledgeable about the wine industry, the process used to make wine in the region, and of course of the many chateaux in the Bordeaux area. As a result, this was not only a beautiful day trip but also a deep learning experience for us...although we are far from wine experts, Hamish kept the information at the right level for us. He also participated in the tasting experience with us (using the spittoon of course...he's driving!) and so was able to help us appreciate the attributes of the wine. Not the cheapest day out, but worth every centime given the door to door service and having personal access to a true expert who can answer any question you ever had about wine. Many thanks for a wonderful day!

It was our first time to Bordeaux and our group was looking for an itinerary that would highlight the best chateaus off the beaten path there were not frequented by tourists. Hamish created a day packed with the history of wine making from local producers, private tastings and a cave tour. He shared his vast knowledge for wine, it is evident he truly loves what he does. We highly recommend experiencing Bordeaux with Hamish and Bella tours.

My wife and I went to Europe on our honeymoon and wanted to see it all, but because of this we only had 1-2 days in each stop. Spending a full day with Hamish was one of our better days on the trip. We did a full day in St. Emilion area, and although we were only able to scratch the surface on this region and bordeaux in general, we felt like we came away more information than our brains could absorb. Hamish is also very knowledgeable about the financial aspects of the wine trade in this region which I found fascinating. He also set us up with some great meals in Bordeaux city as well as on our day trip. Worth the price.
