The Hotel Burdigala is a great hotel and located close (5 minute walk) to the city centre. It is located in a business area but a very easy and safe walk to the stone arch of the city centre with numerous restaurants and shops. The city centre is quite busy with constant automobile traffic so if you like quiet - recommend staying at this property. The scenic waterfront is a brisk 10 minute walk. We checked into the hotel and the only available deluxe room (2 twin beds) was not as requested - the hotel upgraded us to a small suite which was nicely furnished, quiet and very nice amenities. Breakfast was included in our booking - for Americans do not expect a lavish breakfast buffet - but offerings were adequate and the staff is efficient. Front desk was very efficient and was able to handle all needs. Would definitely stay at this hotel again!

Dear guest,
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and giving us such a positive feedback. We are delighted to read that you enjoyed you’re upgrade in a junior suite, our breakfast buffet and of course our service.
Your enthusiasm for our staff is a wonderful source of motivation for the entire team. They all will be happy to hear that they have succeeded by making your stay comfortable as they always try to make each guest experience special.
It is right that the hotel has a very convenient location in the centre of Bordeaux: 5 minutes walk from Place Gambetta and 10 minutes from the Grand Theatre or the Place de la Bourse and the wonderful banks of the Garonne River.
Thank you again for sharing your experience, and for recommending the hotel, we do hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again at the Burdigala.
Best regards,

This is a very elegant hotel with excellent design and good taste. It is ideally located just 5 minutes walk from the city walls entrance so it is extremely quiet. Very useful also the tramway just 3 minutes away and the shopping mall.
Rooms are spacious and with very good taste. Service is nice and professional. Very good restaurant for breakfast and lunch or dinner

Stayed two nights just before Easter. Hotel is well situated, just outside the city centre, but within walking distance of everything.
Room (received an upgrade to a Superior Room) was excellent and the staff were very good, all speaking English and willing to help when asked. The only downside was that the restaurant was closed to residents as it had been hired out to a party on the first night we were there, when we didn't want to go looking for somewhere to eat. Using TA I found a place (Solena - see separate review) around the corner, but as my French is nothing special I asked the front desk if they could book it for me, which they did without any problems - 45 minutes later we were seated in the restaurant.
Would stay here again next time we visit Bordeaux, which is a great city to visit and chill out

Nice stop on our way back to UK – Bordeaux is a beautiful city and the Burdigala hotel is definitely a fantastic place to stay there. It’s located about 5 minutes walking distance to the pedestrian zones which made it very convenient.
Lovely rooms and friendly staff.
All in all a very good hotel and a good value for money.

The hotel were very helpful before and during our stay , The service was very good from all departments , although the bar team sometimes were hard to track down , not just a problem we had .
The food in the restaurant was very good and the wine superb value ......!
The rooms although a little small for some were very well thought out all very modern and spotless.
The bathrooms were full of great products to use and toped up daily, great soft fluffy towels as well.
The underground car park is a godsend with direct access from the hotel on any floor.
I would return to this hotel , even though location might put some off 15 minute walk into town.

Room Tip: Contact the hotel for a quiet room they helped us

What a great experience after so many average hotels in France. The Burdigala is a true gem. We were greeted by a smiling porter who took our bags and asked if we would be requiring our car or could he park it for us. We opted to have it parked as we intended to walk into the major shipping area, some 5 minutes or so walk from the hotel. We were pleased when advised that parking was only 13 euros a day, a far cry from the cost of parking we have experienced in other French hotels. Excellent reception and an upgrade to boot. We were shown to a very modern spacious suite, we would normally go for a more traditional style hotel, but we are very pleasd we came to this modern one for a change.

Nothing has been a problem and all of the staff are totally fluent in English as well. The bathroom is especially good and well appointed with an abundance of good towels and toiletries. Great free WiFi in the room and 2 large flat screen televisions with more than enough English channels. The hotel is spotless and I very much doubt you would find better anywhere in France.

We have been so disappoint by so many hotel in Europe that simply don't live up to, or in many cases, even come close their highly art directed web sites. The Burdigala does and I would say actually supersedes it.

Would we return? We sure would and we will recommend it highly to friends and associates.
