Our family stayed for four nights, having chosen Adare house from the Sawdays website. No parking, although website says this is available. Good location, right by the park. Rooms fairly clean and beds were ok, but we too found leftover soap etc from previous guests put out for our use, and the shower screening was long overdue a proper clean. The carpeting on the landing was covered in cat hair and 'bits' and clearly not vacuumed in a long time. The lock on one of our rooms didn't work so we had to leave our room unlocked for the entire stay. Internet access did not work in rooms, although owners were able to use theirs on ground floor - they were unable or unwilling to assist in getting the right access code. Breakfast fruit and cereals were ok, but the stale and reheated croissants and bakery items were unacceptable. There is no guest lounge. The lounge is part of the dining room and has two chairs plonked in front of the TV and that is where one of the owners spends most of his time watching the tv - it is very much their space, for their use. Actually, all of this is as nothing compared to the experience of returning to our rooms to find that the landlady had opened our suitcases and packed away our pesonal effects, medicines, clothes and personal items whilst we were out - so that the she could show some prospective conference guests around our rooms. No permission was sought, no apology was made - it felt like burglary. We couldn't wait to leave.
