“Beyond Expectations!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

My husband surprised me for my birthday with a 2 week trip to France, which included a 4 day wine tour put together by John at Gourmet Touring.

John's attention to detail is truly incredible. I know that my husband connected with him by email many times in the planning stages and was very impressed, and I was really impressed by the package of information that arrived at our home before we left. The maps, the GPS coordinates, but especially the personalized book with literally every single thing we could possibly need to know, and loads of extras. It's also a great keepsake to have now.

There was detailed information about everywhere we were heading, including history and tips, right down to the timing of when we should ask for our check at a meal to ensure we'd be at the next Chateau on time. Loads of suggestions for other places to visit, eat or drink were also included. We visited 8 vineyards in 4 days, but they were all different and we learned something new at each one. We really felt like we were getting an education in French wine-making!

The places that were chosen for us to eat, stay and visit were all amazing (standouts include Le Pavillon Villemaurine in Saint-Emilion, and Cafe de l'Esperance in Bouliac). Having never done anything like this before, we were a little unsure about what to expect, but we needn't have been. John even checked in to make sure everything was okay, and that we were happy with the experience. We certainly were.

I wouldn't hesitate for one second to recommend Gourmet Touring, especially if you're really not sure how to plan something like this, John will guide you through the perfect itinerary. You will not be disappointed!

I did a fair bit of research before booking my partner's 60th wine-tasting birthday surprise. John at Gourmet Touring stood out from his competition from the start. Really approachable, accommodating, full of great ideas and always just a click away or text away. He devised the most wonderful and unforgettable 5 day-trip for us and was on hand throughout to make sure it ran smoothly. Attentive to the max, he came to greet us on our arrival in St Emillion, then remained in touch whenever we got stuck, ran late or just wanted advice. Having said that, he was also extremely sensitive to our wish for privacy. This is not a company who will treat you as just another customer. You feel like you know John by the time you get to France, and you are looked after, from a distance, like a friend. I cannot recommend Gourmet Touring more. We had a magical time and have returned home to well-stocked wine-cellar! Thank you to both John and his wife who helped arrange for special extras to make my partner's birthday one he will never forget! A* :)

“Gourmet Touring - exceeded all expectations”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

John organised a bespoke itinerary for us a month before we arrived in Bordeaux which allowed us to experience as much as possible. John called us whilst we were in Sydney to work out our preferences and from there designed an itinerary that allowed us to really enjoy Bordeaux without feeling rushed.

Every detail of our itinerary was carefully considered based on our requests - John prepared books explaining the road rules and background information on each winery and chateau we visited. The pre-programmed GPS provided allowed us to arrive at every location on the itinerary without too much fuss.

The winery tours and private lessons organised allowed us to experience the different styles of wine in Bordeaux and gain a good appreciation for the wines from this region.
All accommodation was superb - and we wouldn't have been able to find these places ourselves. John made some excellent recommendations based on our preferences.
Gourmet Touring organised several fine dining experiences for us which were superb.

If you are visiting Bordeaux, booking a tour with Gourmet Touring is a must! We didn't need to do anything before arriving in Bordeaux and the itinerary prepared for us exceeded our expectations - we couldn't have imagined a more perfect visit to Bordeaux and look forward to visiting again with Gourmet Touring!
Thank you John!

“Gourmet Touring was great!”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

My husband and I both started new jobs recently and we didn't really have time to plan a trip to Bordeaux, not to mention, we weren't at all familiar with the area so we weren't sure where to go, so we turned to Gourmet Touring. John planned a great trip for us. We visited numerous wineries and several monuments. We did a cooking class which was fantastic. Having all our dinner and most lunch restaurants reserved in advance was a big time saver and stress relief. Their hotel recommendations were perfect. Not only did GT do all the work that they promised (including meeting us at the train station to show us how to use the GPS system with all our many destinations PRE-programmed into it), they also ended up having to re-book TGV tickets for us due to a last minute strike. Could we have taken care of this ourselves? Possibly, but not easily. We would have had to interrupt our vacation to do it. With GT, we didn't have to worry about this or a million other things. I can't recommend them highly enough.

“Three days escorted in Bordeaux Region”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

We wanted a short food and wine tour of the region and John of GT ensured we experienced as much as possible but without the pressure of a bus trip or worrying about making each appointment.
He combined vineyards, tastings, restaurants and accommodation from his own list of quality venues.
I would heartily recommend him and his company.
