“Good Location For a Budget Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

We were pleasantly surprised at the central location of this 2 star hotel. It's in the Pedestrian Shopping/Restaurant Area and most things a short walk, including the main Esplanade de Quinconces, Tourist Office and a few other interesting places.
The hotel is basic with continental breakfast only, no air conditioning and the rooms are small, but then if you go to Bordeaux, there are much better things to do than sit in a hotel bedroom!
Staff were very friendly and helpful with reception manned 24/7.
If you arrive by air, catch the Line 1 bus outside Arrivals and get off at Quinconces stop (cost 1 Euro 40) and it's about a five minute walk at most. Similarly returning (at a different bus stop on the one-way loop) it's about a 5 minute walk.
I'd use it again, purely for its location and cost.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room at the rear. When we were there a music festival was on and we heard from fello...

My cousin and I stayed here for two nights on the weekend of the May bank holiday. We chose the hotel purely for the price and location.
The room was tidy, beds comfortable and we had hot water. The receptionist was very helpful, and patient, when we had to ask him for help with our room key for the third time in a row!
Location is great and you really do get what you pay for, it was comfortable and warm but it was a little noisy in the morning due to the bin men and shops opening below (this seems to be very common throughout Bordeaux!) there was a bit of noise from other guests early in the morning but again this can only be expected and wasn't too loud.
Cheap and cheerful but not for the light sleepers.

We loved the location of this simple but ample hotel ! Simply furnished and newly decorated in a modern style but for value and location it cannot be beaten - service excellent with friendly and knowledgeable staff - they spoke English ! We didn't do breakfast as so many little cafés nearby at the 'gate' ( Porte dijeaux) including an amazing ice cream shop opposite and down a little in the same street - Also at the Porte dijeaux a wonderful canele shop Mmmmm and off that little square some great breakfast cafés - walkable to city centre, cathedral etc and even down to the quays ! Parking nearby at place gambetta just a couple blocks away on foot - we arrived by car from the airport and the next day drove on to stay in the dordogne !!! Enjoy ;-)

Room Tip: We selected a room two floors above where breakfast is served to be quieter as recommended here on t...

Stayed for 1 night on the 14th. The hotel is in a great location, its very small, very basic. It depends what you want, we literally just slept and left as we went for a night out. The carpet had a few staines & they could probably do with replacing the sheets but hey it was for a few hours and the price was reasonable. If your staying for a few days I would suggest you try a different hotel.

This is definitely a cheap and cheerful hotel. It has been recently re-decorated. The location is excellent (right in the city centre), just beware you will need to pay for parking but that's the case anywhere in the centre of Bordeaux.
Our main gripe was that our room is directly opposite the breakfast room making it very noisy during serving times.

Stayed here in May for 2 nights, excellent location, very close to shops and restaurants - room was adequate - small and plain but you get what you paid for. Staff didn't speak much english - and internet was down for the 3 days i was there which was a pain but didn't matter too much.
For what we paid it was sufficient

This is a wonderful tourist hotel ideally located close to all the main attractions in the city centre near some fantastic public spaces and buzzing bars, cafes and restaurants.
While it is by no means a luxurious proposition, it is clean and well-run and represents very good value for quite an expensive town. Unpretentious and basic.
Bed was comfortable and room was larger than expected but it overlooked a derelict building to the rear which attracted a lot of pigeons so I couldn't keep my windows open...no big deal. Bathroom is basic but clean and toiletries reflect the budget price point.
I didn't take the breakfast so I can't comment on this.
Wi-Fi was good enough.
Staff were very helpful especially upon departure; they advised me to take the regular bus (1.50 euro and not the 8 euro Airport shuttle bus) from Place Gambetta instead of a taxi (45 euro). The bus runs four times an hour from 5.30am and is very prompt with a journey time of less than 40 minutes.
One of the night receptionists, a young enough guy in his 20s, recommended that I visit a local wine bar, L'autre Petit Bois; this was an unmissable experience (which i would have missed had i not asked for a recommendation!).
I was very pleased with this hotel, a fine stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the front of the building overlooking the street if you can. They might be dar...
